City Fibre

Yup, did exactly that last week when I realised that I would face issues with my 1gig network

Bought
1 x Sodola 9 port (8x2.5gbe, 1x10g SFP+) = £67.50
2 x ugreen 2.5gbe usb adapters = £18 each

Total £107.50

Outcome

Added the usb adapters to proxmox, linux bond LACP the nics for an amazing 5gbps which I benchmarked and got 4.7gbps out of it !
Truly gob smacked by the performance

ps you can buy the wavenet usb 5gbps but they need 3.2gen2 ports which I only have one of so passed. If you have the ports then bonding a pair of them would yield 10gbps

Thanks will look into this. Thank you @RSR that would be helpful.

Just had a chance to go back over my old cases

If you are seeing drops on PPPoE interface when it's saturated, there is an issue with flow control where it can drop the connection. This applies to the 2.5Gb interface for some reason but the SFP+ one seems to not be affected from my notes.

Command: ethtool -A ethX rx off tx off

You can use the ifconfig to find the correct interface but on a UDM-SE / PM it's likely to be eth8. That change isn't persistent though, so it will need to be applied on every reboot.

The other item to check and the test is the number of networks the IDS/IDP that have been configured, as I ran into the issue where the "support file reported elevated CPU usage for the Suspicious Activity service" as I had all my VLANs listed, so I reduced this down to 3 and this also helped with my PPPoE.

UniFi Network application settings > Security > Protection > Selected Networks.

Let me know if any of that is helpful.

Speed test before 1450 peak sustained around 1340, After that command saw it hitting 1776 for a few seconds sustained around 1590 so decent improvement. Nice bud thanks. These are on the inbuilt speedtest.
