friend of mine on the weekend was prepin his car to sell on ebay, anyway after cleaning his car for hours, he went for a spin with his m8, apparently a badger or animal ran infront of his car when he put his full beam lights on. ( road was dark ) charlton road in keynsham if anyone is familar with bristol, the car was skiddin from side to side he couldnt control it, then the car did a 360 and went down a ditch and smashed into a concrete post with barb wire on the fence.

This car was spotless before this happened, it was a 55 plate anniversary edition with 6.6k on clock, he had it from new. Luckily he has PNC and GAP insurance

Before pic

he tried avoiding it, he wasnt exactly sure what it was at first, the car started fish tailing and before he could try correctin it. It did a 360 on him also it was wet aswell apparently

Just hit and replace your bumper

unless its legs are long enough to put it through the screen hit it and cringe , or laugh :p

Thats unlucky. He must have been going some to skid from side to side, I never managed that in my CTR even when driving like a [insert swearie here]

Hope your mates ok :) car can be replaced at the end of the day, hopefully not with another EP3 CTR, they are rubbish in my opinion :(

Nasty !!

Gotta hate those "badgers", did you know you're 50% more likely to hit one of said "badgers" when you have a mate in your nippy car ;)

It's quite hard to completely ignore an animal if it suddenly runs out into the road. On a couple of occasions I've flinched to avoid something - despite being in the mindset that I won't swerve for anything.

LOL. That badger story is the dumbest thing I've ever heard :D If your mate's car ended up fishtailing, he must have swerved at an insane speed, lost grip (steering would have gone light so we wouldn't have been able to feel the amount of grip), overcorrected his steering too much because he can't tell how much grip there is or what angle the front wheels are pointing, then when the car regained grip he's suddenly steering off the road, then he overcorrects again, steering goes light, same thing happens again and again. Ask him again - he'll tell you that he was twirling the wheel left, then right, then left etc. Always amazes that people are prepared to spent £15k, £20k or whatever on a car, drive it like a nutter but not even think about spending £500 on a handling course to learn how the car behaves on the limit.

I was on the M4 once, halfway between London and Bristol and a chicken started crossing the motorway (Yes, I know!!!). Wasn't sure whether to swerve or not but decided that if I did swerve, at 80mph, I'd lose control and probably cause a motorway pile up. So I went dead on at the chicken, kept the car straight, tried not to unbalance it and POOMPF! Looked in the rear view mirror and there were 1000s of feather everywhere, with cars behind me swerving left and right to avoid the plume of feathers :D Got home and the the bottom section of the bumped was cracked and stained with chicken blood.

the other day i had an 70mph impact with a badger, just ran straight out of the hedge, luckily no damage done to my car, apart from a huge spray of blood going up the passenger door, from floor to roof, and a big smudge of blood on the panel behind the rear wheel. as soon as i saw it i swerved slightly but was not enough, was half expecting to have some dented/ripped off panels!

Charlton road is mainly a heavily parked up 30Mph residential road?

He must have been driving like a ****.

Unlucky, but this is a perfect example of why you don't try avoid small animals unless your 100% sure you can.

No, but it is a perfect example of why, a car fitted with ESP, would still look brand new.

Anyways, your friend is ok, he had GAP insurance (Im glad I got that on mine too!) so its all good.
