CIVIC TYPE R R.I.P

Damn thats made a mess of that. No driver asistance with Type R's so when you make a mistake you can pay for it big time, not for ameturs tbh. Still makes the others slightly rarer ;)

i always thought whenever i saw a small animal on the road, i would just keep driving and ignore the fact it's there... :o

however when i came across a squirrel i instantly swerved and slammed the brakes on... The brakes locked straight up on on the wet/leafy road and i slid frantically for a few meter, i managed to counter the swerving and missed the squirrel *WOOO!* , finally i continued driving like normal... could have been nastly though :D

im sure we all think we would dodge small animals but the moral is... when that moment arises you think ******!!!!! and try to avoid the small critter. ;)

Should have run the thing over to be honest. Although I've never hit anything as large as a badger I can safely say squirrels make quite a bit of mess when you hit them at over a hundred.

Nice bin bag work by the way

I killed a Hare at about a ton on some country lane (i know  this was a long time ago). Didn't even cross my mind to swerve or even brake at that speed!

Sprayed the poor thing all over my brothers car behind and the inside of my engine bay. Nasty. He thought i had kicked up some stones or something... that must have been bones!

Unfortunate about the type r.

What's "GAP"?

Also, amendment to my above comment. I just looked up my map and Charlton road is a LOT longer that I thought and not all of it is residential, a lot of it is open A road.

Still, must have been driving like a willy in order to do that much damage.

I agree with your first comment mate. Charlton road is the one that leads out to the two headed man junction if I remember right.

Resurfaced too with all that really grippy stuff in the bends! Two answers really too fast and lost control or really did swerve to avoid a badger and lost it. I'll look for the concrete post on me way to Paulton tomorrow.

If you check a map it carries on at the crossroad junction (not the high street one) and is quite "country" like.

I can't recall driving it recently though.

lol when i was young and foolish it was a "deer " ran in front of the car and i lost controll missing it.... pmsl

just hope his insurance company isnt so synical

It's quite hard to completely ignore an animal if it suddenly runs out into the road. On a couple of occasions I've flinched to avoid something - despite being in the mindset that I won't swerve for anything.

I was driving a mate's Saxo on Sunday night along some country roads... just finished an overtake... when two foxes ran out in the road... I just jumped on the brakes, didn't even think about swerving. A bit weird really, as your instincts would have you swerving all over the place.

Luckily I didn't hit either of them (good old Brembos ;)) otherwise I would have owed my mate for a new bumper.

Sorry to see the car in that shape, but not a lot you can do really when the car starts swinging out of control. I'd say you were pretty lucky that there wasn't more damage.

Utter ********.

You hit anything at that 70/80mph, causing that amount of damage to your car, and its dead.

Ahhh, i bow to your all knowing intelligence, plus i forgot you were in the passenger seat of the car with me that night!

not an anniversary, its a premier...
I have an anniversary and they are 02-03, the 05onwards are premiers or 5Y.5M (or somthin like that) some salesmen get mixed up :)

Shame about the car though, what has happened in regards to the GAP? they paid out or gave him another one?

You don't need to be Columbo to know that all or part of your story is utter fiction.

Add davidstone28 to Your Ignore List

I knew i would eventually find a use for that, took me since 1999 (or was it 2000?) though!

seems strange how impacts with some animals can cause either no damage or a whole world of trouble.

a few years ago my uncle (in a e36 m3) was travelling on a dual carriageway (70-80mph) at night, he was in the left hand lane when a fox walked into his path up ahead. the fox stood still, so he changed lane to the right hand lane and started to wipe off speed. the fox then changed lane also and it was too late to avoid hitting it.

the front bumper was in peices and the radiator push back and broken.

this reminds me of the time one of our drivers (in an artic btw) was on some minor B or C road and as he came around a bend there was a flock of sheep just standing in the middle of the road.
for the next few weeks after he had plowed through them i was constantly reminded by the fitters how happy they were to keep finding bits of sheep in various parts of the truck.
:(
