Civilization V

No they arent, theres no mention of them anywhere in the T+Cs.

Its against the T+Cs to pay fraudulently, that is to use a proxy to buy games in another currency.

However, simply logging into your account using a proxy is fine as long as you dont buy anything.

Comon m8, tell us how you did it then?
I am stuck at login using yourfreedom and proxycap

Played the demo, love it to be honest
Took me a while to get to grips but it's fun so I'm guessing the full version will be pretty addictive :o

Did you buy a European version of the game and then just logged into Steam using the proxy to add the game.

Or did you have to buy a US version through the proxy?

Pre-Ordered. Despite watching every single release of Civ from it's first (microprose) incarnation upto present day, I have never ever played a Civ game. I am not a fan of turn based stuff so I hope I enjoy this.

Just had my 1st 100 turns, I think its better than 4, especially since there was no hint of religion, which just got stupid. Like the tiling system, graphics are excellent, diplomacy has more purpose, but combat isn't as good and it's unclear what to do when you want to attack a city.

It reckons you need 4 units, so i built 4 units, ranged and melee, however none made a dint, and this was only one of the little villages you can help, befriend etc..

I'm actually going to miss the religion, there was always something amusing to me in making a Judaic Germany, am I right in thinking that the government types (Fascist, Democratic etc) have been removed too? If so, I will miss those as well.

Buy the EU/UK version from Steam or any version from D2D. Don't use proxies to bypass region pricing as that is certainly a bannable offense. Then pre-load and when that's done, use proxy properly if you want to activate it (or just wait 2 days 4 hours or so).

Played every single one since release, the first came pirated on floppys, no manual, just me trying to figure out my first ever turn based game.

I remember as if it was yesterday my first run, Romans, made loads of hoplites around my city, 8 in all as i didn't know you defended from within my city. Was about the middle ages by the time i got them all surrounded. Doh!

lol, i like your style! :D

I hated it. IV was the worst iteration of the game solely down to religion, so glad its gone.

I think so, games has governing bonus' which give you growth etc...a bit like 4 with your policies etc..

Cool, trying it now. Just trying the proxy thing on Steam first to make sure I can connect before I try it. It's just stuck at the connecting window and is taking ages!

The proxy is only reporting that its sending data at about 28 bytes a second. No wonder it's taking ages!

EDIT: Seems like you just need to restart the proxy until it works.

I am stuck at login using yourfreedom and proxycap

Instructions in this thread:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=379880

Just keep disconnecting and reconnecting your freedom trying both the US and CA servers until it connects to steam.

After it connects through US steam, the game will decrypt. They you disconnect your freedom + proxycap to update the game normally. Once its updated, reconnect through proxycap again to decrypt the new files. Once thats done go into offlie mode and stay in it until friday. Run the game from your Steam folder.

Pity...maybe it will be modded in though. Already got my eyes on the CivFanatics earth map forum waiting for the first huge earth map to be uploaded :D

Just finished my first 100 turns.

All very slick (sort of) and all very clinical. Left me feeling a bit cold to be honest. :(

Maybe it's just all new, but CIV 4 had so much more atmosphere and I felt attached to my cities and units. Here, nothing of the sort.

Maybe it's just the demo talking, and perhaps the full release will grow on me.

i have decided to go for the retail collectors edition.

i also decided to pay the extra £5 for next day delivery. question is will they post it the same time as they dispatch them all? or will they just post it a day later to account for the quicker delivery?

^^

Why waste money on next day for pre orders from game?

They ship all pre orders automatically on free next day to arrive on launch day.

Plus knowing steam it'll go **** up during release day, so those with the retail copies will be sorted.
