I bet Leeds and Newcastle could :)

Biggest clubs with a city to themselves :)

You are most probably correct there mate, but what I really mean is whats the chances of Leeds or Newcastle even making the CL qualifiers let alone winning it anytime soon :D

Not quite as simple as that as there are quite a few teams in London with a good following but in Liverpool there are 2 major teams. 5 in the PL and West Ham got a pretty strong following as well. You make it out like 200k is a small amount ;)

Yea sorry mate what I mean is and what I wanted to emphasise is the fact at how much Liverpool's win means to the people of LIverpool and indeed England in comparison to say Chelsea winning the league for the first time in 50 years. No one can argue with the fact that if Liverpool was in London with all of those people am pretty sure there would have been over a million people lining the streets to welcome the team home, thats what I mean, the context of the victory and what it means to everyone in england.

Kind of makes a mockery of what Wenger etc have been saying in that the league is number 1 then CL is second, going by the scenese we witnessed in 99 and last night it seems the people of the country and supporters have different asperations for their team :)

You are wrong. There is NOT, and never has been in recent years an automatic place for the title holders, so nobody has been "given an extra berth this year" at the expense of the champions. Case in point would be after Real Madrid won the CL in 2000, but failed to qualify via the league for the 2000-1 season. The Spanish FA took the decision to exclude Real Zaragoza (4th place) from the CL in the following season, and put Madrid (5th) in their place. The English FA has chosen not to do this, they have allocated the 4th place team (Everton) the spot ahead of the CL winner.

So why does uefas access list still have a place reserved for the title holder in the group stages ?
As i said this problem isn't about there being no place available,it is about no country being allowed to enter more than 5 teams.

Done it before, we'll do it again.

Still hold the record for going the furthest in the competition at the first attempt.

Cos as you said, they are inept and just assumed that the CL winner would be entered by their respective FA. If that happened, they would automatically be seeded 1st (as Porto were this year) which is why they have a place reserved in the group stage draw.

Fans might prefer the CL but at the end of the day the league is the best indication of how good your team. You can't say after a 38 game season oh they were lucky to win it etc. Not trying to disrespect Liverpool here but in the CL a lot depends on whether you get the rub of the green on the night. Last season Porto were a couple mins from being out against man utd, you lot were the same against some greek/turkish team IIRC. I'd rather win my league and not win the CL, than finish miles off the pace in the league and win the CL.

But all in all I was suprisingly happy seeing you win it, usually don't care for other clubs but your lot winning it showed that having spent £200mill or having the best first XI doesn't always win trophies and it is about commitment and desire.
