Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Maybe, this game is better as I don't think it revolves around kids. That always put me off persona, actually a lot of JRPGs.
Didn't see as much waffling either.
Yea it was school during the day then fighting at night that kinda put me off it. This game does look like my kinda game so I'll watch some reviews, annoyingly my Xbox gamepass ran out a month or so ago otherwise I'd have tried it on that.

I tried Persona 5

The endless text chat boxes that pops up peed me off so I stopped playing

The Persona games are very, very heavy in chat/story elements. You might enjoy the sister series, being Shin Megami Tensei which is far more combat orientated, but there will still be the odd exposition dump.

That said, they're JRPG's and turn based or not there's a lot of elements you need to expect when getting into that sort of game. Some people are going to love it, others will hate it, and while I've mentioned it before I think it's worth noting again regarding Expedition 33:

A lot of people and even some news outlets were selling it as a BG3 type game, partly due to "turn based" and I imagine also due to certain voice actors being promoted that had parts in both games. It is nothing like a more traditional western style RPG, it might be based in France and made by western developers, but it's very much a JRPG in style and has a lot of the trappings you might expect in such a game.

Playing this at a slow pace. Just soaking it all up. Love the characters, so far all the biomes/locations have been excellent too.

I’ll put it in a spoiler but I am this far

just got Sciel, and the Esquie! And am at the stonewall cliffs atm

Im dipping in and out of this, i never thought i would enjoy this type of combat but now im wondering about other games with similar-ish combat after i finish this one?
Such a chill experience , incredible actually in many ways, i forget im even playing a game sometimes, thats rare these days.

Not really a fan of this genre but with the hype thought I'd give it a bash.

Couldn't sleep so I started playing, albeit story mode with QTE on auto, at two this morning on the bedside laptop and eventually stopped at six, loving it.

Music and overall design are top-notch, hype well deserved :)

I've played about 8 hours so far and absolutely loving it. Its great that I hadn't even heard of it until a friend mentioned it the other day, makes a nice change to just discover a fantastic game, rather than being disappointed by something that's been hyped.

The QTE and dodge/parry makes it much more interactive and without them I don't think I'd like the game anywhere near as much
TBH, I've completely given up on dodge now and only ever use parry. My approach to conflict is flawless victory or ignominious death. :D
