Clarkson's Farm

It is a sad state of affairs how farmers are treated. The government really couldn't give a rats bottom about them. All they worry about is the financial sector and London which doesn't make the country run.

Same with councils. Just sad little people on a power trip who have just failed at life. The whole bureaucracy of this country needs a total shakeup.

Really enjoyed s2, felt more focused on farming this time around instead of Clarkson having ideas of things to do like s1, it's from their pov but the council didn't come across great, especially with the farmers track etc.

Remember that editing tells the narrative they want you to hear.

The planning permission being denied is a matter of public record. The show seems to have left out some key details.

Yea, don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the series (watched 6 so far) but his anti-authority slant by calling everything the 'xxxx' police grates on me. Yes, beurocracy can be a real pita and there's plenty of jobsworths out there, but for example I'm pleased we have EHO that tries to ensure restaurants are meeting at least basic food safety standards!

People often think farmers are wealthy, they aren't really.

They are asset rich, but cash poor.

They're not having an easy time of it lately for sure, in fact its pretty dire the way the Govt are treating the sector. I know, as I do the accounts for my partners farm but farmers haven't been that hard up in general. The ones I've met through my partner are (multi) millionaires and we're not talking massive farmsteads, not as big as Clarksons.

Not that you'd know it by seeing them, we're talking the classic orange twine holding the trousers up type! :p

But anyway, I've never understood the sort of negative association about farmers being wealthy, why shouldn't they be, they do a vitally important job.

Multi millions in the bank or due to assets?

Nearly all farmers are asset rich, the farms that are generally owned by generations of family can be wealthy as well.

And when they all inevitably start selling off their assets that wealth increases, unless they are doing it to keep the ship sailing which is often the case.
