Cleaning your ears

I have a bit of a thing about this too, gotta be cleaned when I shower or I just go crazy. How people can not wash em out I don't know.

". It plays an important role in the human ear canal, assisting in cleaning and lubrication, and also provides some protection from bacteria, fungus, and insects.

While studies conducted up until the 1960s found little evidence supporting an antibacterial role for cerumen,[9] more recent studies have found that cerumen has a bactericidal effect on some strains of bacteria. Cerumen has been found to be effective in reducing the viability of a wide range of bacteria (sometimes by up to 99%), including Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, and many variants of Escherichia coli.[10][11] The growth of two fungi commonly present in otomycosis was also significantly inhibited by human cerumen.[12] These antimicrobial properties are due principally to the presence of saturated fatty acids, lysozyme and, especially, to the relatively low pH of cerumen (typically around 6.1 in normal individuals[13])."

^Missing my point.

How people (some I know) can walk around with shiny ears (They just ignore them in the shower) is beyond me. I don't just mean the actual ear canal I mean the whole shabang.

Seriously no one here knew about olive oil? I thought it's a common knowledge thing like using tissues to wipe your butt.

best to drop some into the ear before you sleep, give it time to work and when you shower, rinse it and most of the time the stuff will just come straight out.

Cotton wool buds is the worst thing u can use... one it pushes wax ferther down the ear and two it leaves cotton depossits
Hence why nails are better. All these nancys with cotton buds are doing themselves no favours, spending a fortnue on the things when a good decent 4" nail is a beter and cheaper alternative.

I don't know what my GP used but i had a ear infection last year and he cleaned it out with a warm liquid (i guess it could be just water not sure) and A LOT of wax came out it was quite disgusting really

Puss and other bodily fluids?

You shouldn't really clean your eyes daily anyway, it makes the problem worse. Anything you put in your ear stimulates the production of ear wax in the long term.

Hmm, don't think I would feel comfortable putting Olive Oil in my ears. Also, your friend needs more things to fill up his day if he spends part of it showing his mates his earwax :p

It does hurt, a lot, but I had hearing like a dog afterwards. :)
I've had it done twice. It feels very odd but it didn't hurt for me at all, either time although the feeling of water pulsing on my ear drum felt so weird. Loved the crystal clear hearing afterwards though :D

The lady gave me a leaflet about olive oil, although I don't bother with any of it, as if I have another problem I'll just go back to the doctors and it'll be sorted in 2 mins :D

A thin rubber tube might work. One end stuffed down your ear, the other connected to any of the following...

Vacuum cleaner (No Mess, no fuss).
Your mouth (Get sucking... Nice and tasty)
Sneakily attached to the end of someone else's milkshake straw. (Let someone else do the work.... Nice and nasty)
