Clothes: Potential Buys Advice

I haven't bought any of them yet, hence why I was looking for opinions. I didn't really like the Chinos but was just considering something different as my wardrobe is full with about 15 pair of jeans. Quite like the hoodie though :p

chinos 12 quid at primark.. 20 at next? why spend 70?

While I wouldn't advocate spending £70 on a pair of chinos, they're likely to be a lot better quality than a £12 pair from Primark. There's a reason Primark is so cheap - nobody minds when their clothes fall apart after 3 washes. If a £70 pair of chinos had the same longevity, you'd be taking them back as faulty.

I'm very much a middle of the range kind of guy. Find the best quality you can for as little as possible, Usually this leads you to places like debenhams (Rocha John Rocha, Jasper Conran, jeff banks etc.) or sometimes Next. Very rarely Primark.

Interestingly I've found top man clothes are usually on a par quality-wise as primark. Yet they charge sometimes 10x as much.

Can't fault Primark for pants and socks though.

I personally think Primark boxers are ****. All I wear nowadays is Calvin Klein, Levis, Jack Jones etc. I don't mind splashing out a bit on boxers. I don't mind their socks though, same goes for M&S.

in my case, chinos/trousers last me a month or two at best :) so staining with grease, getting rips from bmxing and all that is just not worth it.. :o i can get next chinos for 15 tho :) only 3 quid more than primark, but they don't have as many colours :)

Chinos, like jeans and other trousers, can look good or bad. Depends on the style and cut of them. Anything that gets thin around the ankle is wrong, no excuses.

lol especially those ones with like elasticated bits to make them thin and tight around the ankles!

My dad wears Chinos :/

Good enough reason for anyone other than my dad NOT to wear them!

Lol.

Dress down days: when you find out your colleagues's interpretation of 'fashion'. Its usually something like this...

Chinos - If you're a student. But, then you'll look like all the other students. Clones are naff :p Fully grown man? not a chance.

Chinos are great if you're in an environment that calls for a cross between smart and casual. They're not as smart as trousers, but a nice looking pair of chinos are smarter than jeans (probably because of the stigma that jeans are a casual garment, so I'm not saying you couldn't pull a 'jeans and shirt' look off at work if a suit wasn't a requirement, but it probably isn't recommended).

The pair posted in the OP are hideous, which, admittedly, are probably what you were referring to anyway.
