CM690 XSPC RASA 750 RS 240

Option 3 would be my first choice, but you could take option 1 and swap the position of the rad and fans at the top so you DO have 'push' airflow through the rad and still good cross-board airflow... downfall of this is that you're still drawing warm air through the rad though

Go with option 3 :)

First things first, thanks for all the support and comments received. I've finally decided on the loop layout and the fan orientation.

I've actually been busy on it most of today, and hadn't had chance to see the last few responses above. As much as I think the bottom Rad option is the best thermally I 'm going for option 2 as it is a tidier loop, and i'd rahter have a tider loop and maybe leese a few degrees.

As I say I've even been doing some actual work on the case as opposed to just staring at it and trying to visualise things.
Rather than reams of text I'm going to try to let the photos do the talking, with just a few comments from me here and there.

Top fans mounted, they will be cooling the rad on push. If it's a disaster it's no biggy to swap them around or swap them out for a different set.

First bit of the loop goes in (the clips will get tightened later)

Using Bitfenix Spectre 120mm fans Black with Orange LEDs on the bottom.

Braided them of course, couldn't put them in looking like this

Also going to be installing this rather nice NZXT string LED.

PSU is the rather nice Antec Truepower 750. it's a semi modular design having all the major cables attached and the ability to add more if desired. Just got to work out what to do with all those wires

Stuff them round the back for now

The perfect crime (not)

Next up I'll be filling the loop and leak testing.

Not so much garish as very thin. Most of what you can see is the wires under the braid. May re do some, or perhaps use extensions.

The loop's now full and leak testing has commenced, although I have to say I'm far from happy with my choice of coolant. Having thought long and hard about whether to use the tubing that came with it, and whether to use water or a coloured coolant I decided to stick with the stock clear tubing and use some Black coolant that I had purchased for a previous build and never used.
This stuff, sold as ICE BLACK although it is available in a range of other colours. If it did what it said on the bottle, and if the colour achieved was anything like the colour of the bottle I'd be happy.

Pretty Black I think you'll agree

NO IT'S NOT, ITS SMEGGING PALE BLUE, PURPLE AT BEST

I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!!!!!
Thinking of maybe using a dye bomb, but never used one before, do they work? any problems with them?

Aw damn - you should have gone with Mayhem dyes. He's one guy who started experimenting with WC dyes a while ago, and there's a mega long thread on another forum of people who helped him to test it.

His dyes are bloody excellent and don't stain, and because it's all been tested by actual forum users they actually come out the colour on the tin :). Stocked in an alternative major retailer.

EDIT: There's not really a true 'black' dye you can get. It's all deep purple. There's a video on the thread if you can find it of Mayhem's deep purple dye, and if you put a few more drops in it's about as close to black as you can get)

Cheers for the advice. it can't possibly be any worse than this stuff so might give it a punt.

personaly I would go with black tubing, don't think it will ever be black with dye's and then the risk of staining and clogging things, but all looks good so far, well done.

hehe i used some of that coolant before GET IT OUT!! it stained everything :(
use some black tubing oh and heres my idea for cooling layout sorry its a bit late ;)

does involve you getting another RAD though.

Cheers matey, yeah it's coming out today. Just gonna undo the fill plug and turn the whole lot upside down.

Feeling inexorably drwan to orange dye, I can't help it, got a taste for black and orange with carboot and need another fix.

Don't want to get orange tubing so will go for orange dye.

Oh and thanks for the diagram. It's essentially what i've gone for but just 1 rad in the roof only. I can always upgrade later.

Dubs the only dye ived heard good things about is Mayhems...and we both know you aren't going for orange tubing cos you cant source it :)

If you're thinking of the WC Skelly, it was yellow I couldn'd find (still looking though)

Drained that pale purple pee pee out of the loop today. did it over a bit of the lawn so we''ll see just how "eco friendly" it is won't we

I'm pretty much decided on orange dye, and think the mayhems looks the mutz but can't seem to find the orange. failing that what do you think about fessr orange???

This build is amazing. You've inspired me to get a CM690 and put watercooling on.

I'm thinking double 240mm rads should be the best for this case.
