So......after an hour played of the campaign. Mixed impressions.
First off, performance. I turned off DSR as the game seems to startup at your highest available resolution in the menu, making things slow to a crawl for many people. So yea, if you're getting a giant image or everything has become non responsive in the menu - back out and turn off DSR, or ALT+ENTER until you get to full screen so you can go to the options and change it.
My PC:
MSI GTX970 w/stock overclock
i5-3570k @ 4.2Ghz
8GB 1600Mhz RAM
Windows 10
These are my settings:
This gives me a pretty solid 60fps. Going up on texture quality to the highest setting gives me stuttering - guessing it's a vRAM hog, which sucks. Texture quality isn't even that good.
Quick tip - if you find your image looks a bit too washed out, switch the Display Gamma setting to HDTV. This is the difference:
RGB
HDTV
Looks much better to me.
Overall graphics in the first level haven't impressed me that much.
Big issue for me is sound, though. The mix is dreadful and makes the game feel very lifeless. Guns are too soft and footsteps and reloads are comparatively loud, making it all sound very weird. I'm using headphones and I switched to the Crunch audio preset, which helps some, but not enough.
Also, mouse controls dont feel great. I've gotten used to it, but it definitely feels a bit laggy. Hopefully this gets fixed quickly as I dont want that for multiplayer at all.
And generally, the first level just wasn't very fun. Generic shooty shooty bang bang stuff. The dialogue for the characters was weird and paced awkwardly at times.
Good potential here, but some issues need ironing out and obviously I haven't tried multiplayer yet, which is where everything hopefully comes together. Dont care too much about the campaign.
