COD: Black Ops III

Not being funny but this is cod not the witcher 3. The game is running on a modified quake 3 engine....
There are so many people with performance issues its unreal.. 3 year dev cycle and they release a buggy as **** port is not on. I don't care what anyone says.

Look at Batman AK, runs great on consoles and is a POS on PC, same with COD. Nothing more than devs giving the middle finger to PC gamers, with **** PC optimization.

My god is the Steam community toxic. All the reviews seem to be coming from people with less than 1 hours of play time and complaining about performance, "I have an I7-4790k and a GTX-980ti and my pc is running this game on 10fps on low settings WTF!" is just one of the many reviews spammed over and over again. Then the forums/discussions are filled with people who don't even know the game, and in broken english say something along the lines of "haha u shold of listen me!!!".

Half of the negative reviews seem to be "kids" (sorry to generalise) who stick everything on Max settings without knowing the capabilities of their specs and complaining they can't achieve 60fps.

Maybe they expect a big dev to be able to release a game on an age old engine in better shape than this?

There's also a lot of hyperbole and exaggeration being thrown around.

Reality is somewhere in the middle. Arkham Knight was a much worse situation and a lot of the issues I've seen with this game are solvable on the user end, meaning official fixes shouldn't be too difficult to track down and squash.

Had a quick read through, just wanna say I have not experienced ANY issues (such as crashing, 100% CPU usage blah blah). Only thing I have noticed is that there may be a tiny bit of mouse lag, either that or I haven't played an FPS in a while

As for the high VRAM/RAM usage, on my i5/GTX970/8GB machine, VRAM has never gone over 3.7GB and RAM sits around 6.5GB, and thats not just the game but the entire system itself using that up, speculation on reddit says that the game takes advantage of however much RAM/VRAM you have, so if you have 16GB RAM it will use close to 16GB, if you have 8GB it will use close to that and so on and so forth.

To be fair, I haven't touched SP so all these issues may be SP only.
I'd say the proportion of negative steam reviews is unfair. Just my thoughts on the game, after about 4 hours or so of playing. Hope I haven't jinxed it haha

It's not hyperbole when I'm experiencing it myself, I can't get more than 45fps and I'm running the game in 60% scaling, with LOWEST settings, nothing turned on and just FXAA. Some areas drop down to 15fps. It looks like dog ****. After playing around with all the settings this is the best I can get.. It's ridiculous needs to be fixed asap. We are not talking about Batman, we are talking a game that has been about longer than my grandmother and runs on an engine even older than that.

A potato should be able to run this game nicely, it's just devs can't be bothered with the PC crowd, yet they seem to forget where FPS origins come from..

Not to play it maxed out its not theres a major memory problem with this game lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFPqkfq9mhU theres a quick vid i put up showing it stutter along with 8 gigs of ram.As i said in options put everything to high and not extra fixes it for me.
Yea, that is most likely down to you running Extra textures at 1440p, not because of system RAM.

Dynamic shadows also cause a significant performance hit, just so you know.

Turn textures down to High and have a pretty good feeling it'll run 10x better.

The game doesn't handle memory very well, but it's not so problematic that 8GB isn't enough. I, and plenty others, have 8GB and have been running it fine. You are just running higher settings than your GPU can handle.

A half assed pc port of a cod game? STOP THE PRESSES!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111111111111111111111656667

AW was also a stuttery mess in the sp campaign and continues to be to this day with random frame rate drops for no reason, so what's new?

What's your rig?

And no, a potato shouldn't be running a next-gen game 'nicely'. No idea where this weird thought process is coming from.

Again, consoles have framerate and bug issues as well. It is not a 'they dont care about PC' thing.

My rig is fine it surpasses the requirements by about 3x.

next-gen game? there is no such thing as "next-gen gaming" another deplorable statement that's thrown about constantly. And COD certainly isn't one.. I didn't literally mean potato, It was a joke as to how old the game engine is and how it shouldn't be difficult to run it without issues, poor console port that's all it is with no effort to make right. We're not talking about a new developer here with no experience either..

Consoles are no where near as bad as PC at though for this game.

I've updated my AMD drivers and had a long online gaming session. No issues to report. Not even the memory error. It actually runs very smooth.

IM running extra textures on 3440x1440 on 8GB of ram and its running great so I'm not sure what the issue is. If your on AMD make sure you update to the newest driver and use the ini tweak in the config file to change work threads from 4 down to 2.

Dont know why you cant tell me what your rig is. I have high doubts you are getting such poor performance, especially if you are running such a nice rig like you claim, but wont detail.

And by 'next gen', I just mean a game developed around the higher baseline that the Xb1 and PS4 provide. This game is definitely a big leap beyond what games developed around X360 and PS3 looked like. You know what I'm saying, anyways. Dont know why you're going to into pointless semantics to avoid my point.

As for the rest(dont care about PC, joke old engine, no effort), it's just generic, lazy accusations I see all the time from people who dont understand this stuff that well.
