anyone running COD4 on a 1080P screen at 1900X1280.?

if so does it actually up the resolution to thatlike on a PC or is it held back by how it was programmed,I dont understand if console games work the same way as a PC game when changing resolution.

I ran it on my 22" sammy tft and it gave me the option of 1900x1280 so I tried it and it looked the same to me as on my 32 sammy lcd but neither of my 2 screens are 1080P so would appreciate some feedback before getting a 1080P screen to know if it actually would look the same or better?
thanks

1080p is useless this generation unless you watch HD movies. Wait until the next generation as all games are either:

1080p and seriously sparse graphically
720p
less than 720p wil AA etc on.

Kreeeee is spot on. It's something I've mentioned time and time again over the past 2 years in regards to gaming. The technical specifications of running a game at 1080p over 720p would seriously surprise a lot of people.

That's why very few games are native 1080p, and those that are, are pretty basic.

Brilliant movie format, not so good for gaming (this generation).

I don't think we'll start getting proper HD gaming at 1080p for another ten years yet when we get the 4th Xbox / 5th PS3.

Nah, the next generation will all be 1080p, if you look at how consoles are when launched, generally around the same or a little bit ahead of a pc at the time, (ps3 excluded), then im pretty sure 1080p will be licked for the next xbox.

you'd need 512mb+ video ram for a start for 1080p

I'm in the '720p is overkill' club. I would guess that about 90% of gamers are on SDTVs. Should have waited for another generation before making the push to high definition. Much rather have UBER graphics at SD resolution rather than lackluster graphics at 720p - a lot of games already make glaring sacrifices for playability and graphics because the standard is too high. Call of Duty 4 (600p), Halo 3 (640p) and a few other big examples come to mind. The hardware is struggling to keep up.

Isn't CoD4 the pretty SD res you were after though?

the ps3 doesnt have enough memory to render games at 1900X1280..well maybe it could render pong

How so? There are some genuine games that are 1080p, ok they may be smaller downloadable titles but full 1080p nonetheless. But you seem to generalise a lot adn your statement is factually incorrect. The 360 also has some games that support 1080p.

What you really mean is "The consoles cannot produce 1080p games that I would be happy with".

If 512MB of RAM is not enough to render a game at 1920*1080 pixels, how do PCs with less RAM and bloated drivers/OS manage to do so?

I agree we won't see your Gears of War/UT3 style games in 1080p till the end of the current hardware's lifecycle and non consistently till the next set of consoles is released, but there are 1080p games out there now.

Incidentally which of the consoles do you own? (360 or ps3) Then I can list some of the titles for you if you wish.
