COD4: Hardcore is the only way to go...

Used to like HC but its just a sprayfest, Totally disagree with the statement about HC being a better skill level (its easy to rack up massive kills, and i'm crap). That said all pubby play is low/med skill imho. If you want some competition play scrims tbh

i too only ever play on hardcore. But i wish they got rid of the shot indicator things (the x-hair that flashes up when you're actually hitting someone)

well if hardcore is so good why they not play with that mod in officials tournaments, ladders , lan party's? why they play on normal mode in I3* series ?

your right there, sorta ruins the whole point.

also be nice , an option to turn off when it says whos killed who and who you have killed. would make it all the more tense on s&d.

the only way to play - all my clan matches are hardcore except a odd few where other clan wants to play ordinary.

Most of the Enemy Down matches are hardcore mode S&D.

If clans ever want a PCW give me a nudge on xfire - booyaka1976

i never said anything about i33 - if you read my post it says that

Colossal amount of bullets? learn to aim... it only takes a couple of shots on normal mode to kill someone, spraying gets you nowhere... well actually it gets you on hardcore servers.

What is the point in playing a mode where someone spraying only has to wait for the law of averages to kick in (which isn't long since the guns in CoD4 hyper-accurate with next to no recoil) to get his kill? hardcore is completely aimed at destroying the skill divide that even normal struggles to keep. I have never seen an FPS game try as hard as CoD4 to give people with no reactions, awareness or aim so many free kills, its pretty ridiculous. My dad loves playing CoD4 on hardcore mode... he can't play counterstrike, because its way to f"ast paced" (his words) for him and he could play a dozen maps and never get a kill, he doesn't really like CoD4 normal, as even though he can get a few kills he gets pretty horrible KD ratios, but hardcore he seems to get 1:1 pretty consistently which from someone who spends most of their time looking at the keyboard trying to find where "strafe left" is pretty astounding.

You can spot hardcore candidates a mile away, just one of the many axioms of FPS games is the following: It doesn't matter where you are stood on the map, there will only ever be a handful of visible chokepoints where the enemy can come from, these are your only areas of interest at any given time, nothing else should have your attention... pretty simple yeah? I doubt many of the people posting here follow that and please feel free to go join any public server and bare witness to how many people do the exact opposite. Next time your team is pinned in a corner on a public, actually look around you to see what the rest of your team is doing, I assure you the vast majority will be hiding behind things not looking at anything at all useful. But hardcore works for that sort of player, the emphasis of awareness, reactions and aim are completely removed from the equation.

If your playing hardcore, using juggernaught, spamming m203s at any pixel that moves for fun... fair enough, fill your boots. It's the people that somewhere along the line convince themselves its the definition of skill to do such things that my elitism metre begins to twitch.

Still manages to make me smile :D

Good read Spektor, so true.

Are they?

The 'Normal mode' got a £2500 sponsored prize pot a few weeks back, we won £250 of that the other day.

The current cups are in Normal mode, no HC ones in sight :p

ED ladders are a bit crap because of the perk styles.

CB/ESL for Ladders

ED/L2W for Cups/Leagues

theres certainly more teams in the standard S+D Ladder on ED than there are on the HC only ladder and the current S+D League is being played on standard (as are all the cups), as for the ED perk role out they have removed the 3rd perk from the standard S+D Ladder, That said there's not much activity in any of them atm due to the horrific exploit that's kicking about.

Exploit can be fixed using GV script 2.2b - Haven't had any problems when playing anyone since.

Hardcore is the nub friendly mode of a nub friendly game. Neither normal or hardcore has anything to do with realism. Kudos goes to IW on the genius of calling it hardcore, convincing the people who play it that it is some kind of uber skilled mode.

I've only played the pc mode for about 15 minutes, but maybe you feel that way because majority of servers place 40~people on a map. Join servers with 12 player max limit like xbox games and you will see hardcore mode shine. Rather than a spam fest of grenades and bullet spraying, it is a tactical game where any noob sprinting down main street will be capped.

I've played hardcore near enough exclusively on xbox live and rue having to play normal mode everytime the challenge returns on a new prestige level. I also find the general maturity on hardcore games to be better than normal games.

Still not 100% though, like any cvar violation PB only checks x amounts of times per min and even if it finds a violation will initially warn you and then give you a grace period of X seconds to sort it out meaning that you could in theory bind the showenemyonradar cvar to a key and simply toggle it on and off at will knowing fine well the worse that will happen is you get a warning that only you can see, and even then it would only do this if you happened to have it switched on when PB runs a check. I would certainly say the script helps but it in no way has fixed the issue.

i my self tend not to play those servers with 30+ people on as at the end of the day it makes the game somewhat worse (a fest) and lag so its doesnt play as nice. i like playing 10v10 servers as well as 12v12 and the occasional 5v5. though on some maps on cod4 5v5 seems really rubbish. say on crossfire, its just to big for a 5v5 if you think about it. it gets boring for me , as people are far to cautious, and all i hear is silence for 5 minutes.

if they get lag on 30 man servers there crap servers.run 64 man server all day and never any lag but we got decent hosts and a top quad running inside.
