Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

I'm not sure, I think it's going to come down to an Alonso/Hamilton fight, but as ever it all depends on the cars - we've seen both Ferrari and McLaren flatter to deceive in testing in the past...

I'm not bothered about JV, always thought he was a bit of a *** to be honest:p

Anyway, back to the game! I think Codies should do a good job on this, they're never going to be able to please everyone, as a full-on hardcore sim won't have enough appeal to the masses who are not default F1 maniacs, whilst an arcady pick up and play style will alienate those maniacs and lose guaranteed sales.

I actually quite liked the physics engine in the last TOCA installment (race driver 3?) as it had a nice balance of a bit of feel for the grip levels, without needing to be a professional racing driver to get the best out of it.

I do hope they get this right as it could be the start of a whole new generation of F1 titles.

Just hope that the PS3 version is s step up from
Formula One Championship Edition

F1CE was a pretty good game tbh... visually it was stunning, and I thought the gameplay was pretty solid. The only problem with it was opponent AI - or more to the point, lack of AI!

I'm looking forward to F1 2010, but imho Studio Liverpool > Codemasters :)

F1 97 was the best F1 game, I prefer my racing games leaning towards the arcade side and more instantly accessable. Wing settings and suspension stiffness is as deep as I can be bothered with. Different tyres for weather and then just get on with the racing.

I loved the Studio Liverpool titles, I've still got F1 2001 to 2006 on the PS2... Does anyone know what happened to them, they seemed to vanish as soon as Sony gave up the F1 contract?

Not holding out myself. Codemasters tend to make great looking games but the gameplay suffers as they go for handling thats very arcade like..

Not since Toca 1 and 2 have Codemasters really created a game where I felt like I was in the real thing.. F1 is about speed, and best approach to turn into a corner and drive out using the best possible line, inching closer and closer on each lap to put together that perfect laptime to grab pole or set yourself up for a perfect slipstream down the straight and outbrake your oppponent...

In anything other then Toca 1 or 2 with codemasters its been nothing like that...... Dirt 1 and 2 were just mixes of genres that I agree should have Colin McRae's name removed from it.

I'll wait and see, but I bet the codemaster gang make this an arcade feeling racer other then a real hardcore race sim that replicates as best possible some real F1 racing..... It'll need to be appealing to all as its multi platform therefore it goes without reason that codemasters will want to capture a bigger group of buyers.....

Still, nice to see a 2010 F1 game in the works..... as for the up and coming F1 season - bring it on..... If JV joins as well it'll be five world champs out to win it again, and the rest of the field out to bet them to it, with the other five out to beat them as well as the other champs... This will make for some rather interesting *cough* stunts..!! I mean, the man who invented the shunt and punt in F1 is back..!! *cough* MS *cough*.. lol

looking forward to this as im a big F1 fan, i picked up F1:CE the other day for £10 from Cash Converters (dont think they are a competitor), seen it earlier in a game shop for £30 pre-owned and they still fetch around £20 on ebay so i think ill give it a play then flog it on in a few weeks.

Last one I enjoyed too. Bizzare creations rarely disappoint!

I really don't like any of Codies racing games, and I doubt this one will be any different . . .

Pitpass F1 Story

Is this the first F1 game since PS3 launch?

Apart from the Wii version, yes.

I can understand why it's not out for a while, the designs for the cars are still relatively new and under wraps so the teams certainly aren't going to be giving them to a game designer in advance of a new season :p

Looking forward to it still, although there's a danger by the time it comes out it will already feel out of date.

Well lets wait to Monday till they confrim the actual release date themselves.

Also Codies usually produce demos in advance of their releases.
As for the game perhaps releasing in Sept, that does seem a bit late although the Championship this year goes to November.

I really REALLY hope they don't make a pigs ear of this one. Not since owning a PS1 have I had the pleasure of setting lap times in an F1 title. Fingers crossed.
