*** Colin McRae DiRT 2 ***

Well I spent the entire evening playing this on the PS3 last night and I must say it is brilliant! everything I disliked about the original DIRT has been fixed, you no longer hit a pebble in the road and get stopped dead in your tracks. The Graphics are really good with good detail that make judging the track course much easier.

I really like the "tour" interface with the trailer and the general atmosphere.

The tracks are well designed and from what I've played so far (20+%) they are shorter than the DIRT tracks. This in my opinion is better as it makes it much easier to learn the tracks, the night London Docklands races are impressive and probably my favourite so far.

This is by far the best racing game I have played for a while, it's very polished and great fun.. can't wait to have some online races with mates the weekend.
 
I agree, it's an excellent game and a marked improvement over #1. There's also some 'proper' rallying with co-driver instructions which is nice. They've also upped the number of in-game references to McRae, obviously some kind of homage, and good to see he's not just stuck on the title for marketing purposes.

With this, Shift, Forza 3 and possibly GT5, 2009 looks to be an excellent year for driving games :)

Haha indeed. Had a quick browse through the achievements myself, there's one dedicated to McRae also called "For Colin". Won't say how you get it though in case its a spoiler.
 
Been playing this a bit today and im really enjoying it. Love the fact that you can unlock a small doll of your 360 avatar to hang from the rear view mirror.
 
Got it this morning and I do think it's fantastic. Have to admit though I am totally useless at it but practice will make (a lot less than) perfect.
 
Seems the user reviews on here are picking up, many saying its actually quite a decent game if taken for what it is..

so, I'll pick up a PS3 copy and give it a go after all.... Can always trade in if I don't like it, or can't get into it.
 
Ah I get it now. If you take your finger off accelerate occasionally and use the breaks you can actually not come last :D

I don't mind racing games, not too good at them though and will more likely be useless on any online race!! I'm tempted in buying this though or maybe waiting until someone sells it cheaply ;)

Haven't gone online yet (want to get more practice first), that time is taken from your solo races, and you can see where you are in the leaderboard. Nice touch.
