Combined Folding/Bully Biffa Event!

Thats looking grand Mr Loudbob sah wish you all the best with it.
Just in case you might need it theres a set(minus the 24 pin mobo) of silverstone pp05 cables here if you want em your welcome.
A polite request for a build log/pics be good to watch n learn!! :)

I am no expert as everyone north of Watford Gap knows - but would agree with Mr Biffa that the swapout for an sr2 and xeon cpu's would be pricey but pay for themselves in power saving after a while not to mention the output....Phhhhenominal build :)

Just for clarification: no more units to be downloaded for crunching after midnight on 31st December, but units can be returned any time up to the 5th January @ 21:00?

You still have all day tomorrow [1st] to fold and pick up units. My advice was for those running Bigadv as any picked up today are likely to take at least a day or two.

But yes, even if you do end up with a new WU later on tomorrow as long as you dump the results by Wednesday night the points will still be counted.

OK ive thrown it all in to try and pass the PS3's:)

Random question but I don't suppose anyone can remember where the thermal pads go on a stock Evga GTX 260 cooler?

Just realised by 260 that died is still under warranty, but need to put the stock cooler back on correctly!

Edit: Nevermind I found a picture.

Big rig is out of action for a little while - while I install the new PSU & HDD's.

Nothing simple, the Akasa SSD holders dont fit, so it's time for some drillling.

I thought EVGA we're one of the manufacturers that allowed for cooler removal/swaps etc

Pretty sure all EVGA are reference designs, so if that picture you found is of the reference cooler it should be right.

Cheers that's a better picture than the one I found

They are but it states

"The product is returned to EVGA in the original factory configuration and condition. All aftermarket modification must be reversed before sending in the product for replacement."

I don't know how strict they are but I don't want to put the pads in the wrong place and have them say that caused the problem, although I don't have the white pads any more only some grey ones.

 oh eck your as mad as a hatter good sah drilling New Years eve, having said that i have my screwdriver and tools on charge for one minute past midnight, start the New Year as you mean to go on!!!! :D

You just have to work out how long it takes you to do the units and stop downloading them so you don't do any more after the 5th.

Got my rig up'n'running again...... still 24hrs left on the bigadv unit. So, I have removed the bigadv flag. It should drop back on to small units (rather than having it stop in the wee hours and me being fast asleep) this way I can let it go until end of play 02/01/11 and then swap it back to it's day job.

If we all folded for Stompy at the same level for a year we would have half a Billion points.

Never going to happen though :D

Just a quick question regarding checkpoint times.

Does lowering the checkpoint interval have any negative consequences?

As i will be doing some very much on and off folding, so if i lowered it to 3 mins then i would lose less data when i quit the client right? But does that have any cons?

Thanks.
