Come at me England

Absolutely nothing at all?

Erm no, I would not say so. Not in the context of this fine thread we have here.

Who cares about all this, it only breeds division .

I don't know who really cares, nor do I care who cares. It's sonny & GD. I don't think it breeds division really, I suspect most of it is tongue in cheek. Failing that, you have to launch your division attack at the concept of nationalism then.

In some cases, an invention's Scottishness is determined by the fact that it came into existence in Scotland (e.g., animal cloning)

I'm know that the other scientists at the Roslin Institute would be pretty ****ed off with that assertion. ;) Certain collective discoveries should go to the institution unless it really was one man in a back room, into which it should go to him. The sheep was a Welsh breed also for some reason.

This is why the welsh never invent anything, you put a one man in a back room and you can guarantee he will sneak a sheep in there at some point, and then nothing gets done.

Ahh I see... care to comment on the death camps part of my post as well?

well i have no idea about that.

I guess it depends on your definition of a "death camp" (which again is different to a concentration camp).

But seriously you thought the "British" were the first people to ever attempt to carry out a genocide?

Considering the lists were made by different people and has no guarantee of their completeness I'd say comparing them is utterly pointless, and who's to know whether the inventions would have been made without the Union? And what of Scottish people inventing things in England and vice-versa, for which side does it count?

I would hope most of it is tongue in cheek, but this sort of thing can be taken the wrong way, and people will undoubtably take things too far, which is where the entrenching of division comes in.

I would rather we were all proud of our collective achievements, because I believe we wouldn't have made anywhere near as many if we'd have stayed seperate.

Nope given there is evidence pointing it to pre-AD.

I guess I was narrowing it down to genocide in the scope of concentration camps which a lot of people believe was a Nazi "invention" where, in fact, it was English/British. Yet some Brits have the audacity to take the moral high ground over an horrific event 65-70 years ago in Europe whilst "forgetting", either through ignorance or arrogance, that we effectively did the same....

My definition of a death camp is pretty much a concentration camp where people are systematically killed through deliberate means over and above starvation/dehydration.

No one wants second hand sheep.

Ewww... Sloppy seconds!

well i have no idea about that.

The Internment camps in the Boer war were places where they kept certain nationalities locked up. The conditions were so bad that a lot died, they were not purposely killed...

So concentration camp... yes
Death camp... no (death camp being those designed by the Nazis to exterminate systematically those they didn't like)...

(aimed at the person you quoted not you Tefal.)
