Command & Conquer 3 Demo, Next Week!

lol, slap him with a haddock

Yes it may be possible, it depends on the server pretty much.

Try starting again, pausing and replacing the new small partial downloaded file with your 96% one.

Make a backup in case firefox zeros or corrupts the file instead

You could also try similar with getright which definetly allows pausing with the right server

Having a little trouble installing the demo.

Everytime I try to install it asks me to install/remove Dual-Core optimizer, if I do this I'm asked to restart the machine, I try to run the installer again and it asks the same question.

If I click cancel it cancels the whole setup :(

I thought that myself until i realised that i didnt have enough power and they were dark becasue of that, so built a few more power silos and he presto they lit up again.

LOL, that must be it then, very odd why have they made it look like the texture is missing LOL?

Cheers. I'll try this. Just have to wait in the queue for another 2 hours first :(

Owch well thats no good. The getright method is most likely to work, forget firefox for the moment but the partial file may be of some use to you.

Getright checks how much you've downloaded so far. Also its not impossible you may combine the partial file with a torrent which does hash checking on files.

Get Bitcomet for a client and if you need the torrent I'll see if I can post it to you maybe

I love this game. I'm deffo buying it when it comes out.

Graphics are lush and is running nicely on max setting on my lowly 7600 GT. This is on Vista x64.

30 minute download not bad :D.

Graphics are pretty amazing, runs great on my system.

Can't believe how strong the mammoth tanks are. I bought 8 of them with the railgun upgrade and destroyed practically everything. Was sweet though.

LOL yea i did the same

And about half way through 2 of them started shooting red Rails and red Missiles

Uber strong upgrade

I quite like the game, simple but good possibly not the best effort EA have ever done, but it does run pretty good even with the graphics on high and anti aliasing, on my fast ageing system.

7.5/10

Right click on the Icon and extract the files first.

Well have played it for a short while and not very impressed so far.

Same on C&C, very little has changed from previous incarnations but then I suppose that's to be expected as the price you pay for the C&C universe continuity.

The interface is a disaster. The lack of a proper zoom after playing SC is a major let down but the worst thing is the way the control area at the right doesn't shrink at higher resolutions. Playing 1600x1200 here and with the huge control area and lack of zoom I can't see a thing and am scrolling all the time - this is a mess!

As for the gameplay, I've played a couple of short skirmishes now and both times I'm getting invisible planes appearing out of nowhere and systematically destroying my base and nothing seems to touch them - err, wtf!? How do I deal with these bloody things? Getting rather tedious tbh.

NOD have always used Stealth technology to cloak their arsenal.

Use SAM sites?

I never lost a troop or anything in skirmish although it was on easy.

The only thing that I wish demo wise was the option to play as NOD.

Capturing their MCV means half destroying their base.

Captured all buildings bar 2 :D (and those pesky turrent things).

Surprised how well this runs at 2560x1600 on my x1900xt, very smooth :D

I posted a few pages back about how I was just assuming I would be buying this game after enjoying all the previous editions so much. But SupCom has really, really spoiled me. Now I hate not being able to zoom out so far, it feels kind of crippling not knowing how the battle is going as a whole but instead relying on radar alerts and pushing spacebar all the time. CnC 3 is definitely nowhere near as much of a strategy game, it's 'pick up and play' literally, because you can get your buildings & unit tech to the highest level of technology within 5 minutes of starting and there is literally no learning curve to it - good in a way but doesn't reward the more thoughtful or experienced player.

And imho the reason the game runs so well is because the graphics are not that great. I see nothing mind-bogglingly new, I like the animation of units & buildings crumbling on destruction and there are DX9 heat effects galore, but trees (for example) are very poor and it still looks quite cartoony. And the nuke is a bit pants - I thought the nuke in Generals was tons better and much more satisfactory to see & hear in action. That said, it runs much better than Generals (big surprise there!), and I'm not comparing it graphically to SupCom because that is even worse graphically (except for the nuke :D )

Perhaps my style of play prefers SupCom, and/or I haven't played CnC 3 enough yet to get a good opinion on it, but I can't see it appealing to me long-term.

I have finished the demo and I have to say i'm very impressed. I love it. I could never get into Sup. Com. or COH but this is just pick up and play. The game just seems so much more intuitive and natural to play than the others... and the cut scenes. :p

I'm a bit of a graphics whore so I was loving the water effects on the streams and the tracers on the bullets & missiles. And little touches like the heat effects from engines etc. Lovely.

Can't wait to play the full version. :D
