Command & Conquer 3 Demo, Next Week!

getting mechanics to take over fallen mechs is genius! took over a couple of Avatar walkers and then used their commando function to get double lasers... woah! only needed 2 to completely take out a hard enemy :D

good technique is 2 rocket squads and a sniper squad in loads of the buildings... keeps those pesky flame troopers away!!!

On hard, what's the best way of stopping NOD launching a nuke?

I've never had NOD launch a nuke on me, and I've been playing on hard. I harass them early on with pitbulls and medium tanks.

My build order is as follows:

Refinery
Surveyor (2 second Tiberium field)
Barracks (2 engineers to each Tiberium spike, 2 rocket squads, 2 rifle squads)
Power Plant
War Factory (Harvester and 2 tanks ASAP)
Turret Of each kind (at secondary Tiberium field)
Refinery (at 2nd Tiberium field)
Barracks (at 2nd Tiberium field)
War Factory (at 2nd Tiberium field)

Command Centre
Armoury
Tech Centre

Then spam loads of mammoth tanks with the rail gun upgrade. I might try building a crane near the beginning to improve the rate of my build order.

I haven't yet experimented with aircraft, but they're probably quite useful against the "agressive" enemy.

^ first thing i build is a crane, before anything. makes it a lot quicker to get built up. and defences are much easier to put up quickly if you have 2 at a time :p

and as for aircraft - awesome to take out buildings! i dont use the orcas at all though.

Holy crap, just tried a brutal enemy. I resigned after about 15min, they just spammed me with hundreds of infantry and scorpion tanks. Their average income was about 4 times what mine was, despite me having 4 harvesters and 2 refineries. Looks like I'll have to rethink my strategy and get some serious harvesting happening straight away!

the enemy income always seems a crap load more.. i'm still working my way up through the hard enemies, i started with a -50%for them and am now at -30% and still beating them.

my new favourite tactic: set 6 mammoth tanks to "aggressive" stance and just slap them into the middle of the enemy base :D

my current tactics are

Crane & surveyor
Power & Refinery
Barracks & Refinery > engineers into spikes
war factory & sniper armoury > 2x rocket + 1x sniper into about 4 buildings
Tech center & airfield

make it up as i go along after that :p

No need to put engineers in the spikes, just blow it up with force attack and a load of tiberium will grow in its place instantly. So what I do is send out a surveyor to one of the corner tib fields and put protection around the 2 nearest tib spike locations after blowing them up, that way you have 4 easy access tib fields.

I found that a good combo too. Perfect at keeping all infantry away and reasonable at stopping light tanks etc.

Why get the power plant so late, dont buildings and units build slower in low power?

I wasn't aware of that, I'll check it out later on. I just like to get some cash flow as soon as possible. That means a Refinery and the 2 Tib spikes ASAP. I suppose I could do it:

Refinery
Surveyor (to second Tiberium field)
Power Plant
Barracks (2 engineers to each Tiberium spike, 2 rocket squads, 2 rifle squads)
War Factory (Harvester and 2 tanks ASAP)
etc...

instead.
I might also try leaving the Tib Spikes 'til I've got both Tiberium fields secure with at least 2 harvesters on each. Harvesters are probably much more efficient than spikes.

but i'd much rather have constant cashflow from the spikes that are relatively easy to protect :)

lol, i just did my record defeat, 13minutes.

I built so many vehicles/infantry and didn't even use them.

I won purely with super weapons and bombers. Used all 5 (or 6?) super weapons at once, took out 80% of there base, then used about 60 bombers which destroyed everything :p

Wahay finally did Medium over with ease :D

Power plant
Barracks(get rockets and engineers)
Refinery
Airfield(get engineers transport)
Command thingy

So i pretty much send engineers over and hit their barracks etc

THen drop some bloodhounds to keep track on the base :D

Then build all the special things and expand to the other tib fields

First demo ive really enjoyed :D

Refinery
power plant
warehouse extension thing next imo
Then with two warehouses you can build power plants and barracks/factories at the same time.
Once barracks are up create about 30-40 random units
War Factory - 2 x MVC
Then send those each of the MVC's to the tiberium fields at each corner with some units, and build a barracks and 3 refineries at each field.
Then get all the buildings needed for super weapons, while creating tanks/infantry.
Then airfields :D

I normally have an average of 20-25k tiberium per minute.

Use the surveyor expansions jobbies not mcvs to expand.

Also that build line doesn't sound like you are playing against a brutal enemy.

Looks like it Steepsy :p

I'm struggling against brutal. If I expand to the extra Tib fields early on I don't have enough money to defend either of my bases. If I build 2 refineries on my main field then I can just about hold off the onslaught but I run out of tiberium very quickly, and by this point the Brutal enemy have control of both extra tiberium fields.

More practice required... :P

Which are the most useful shortcuts to get a speedy base up and running?

I only use H to get back to base and occasionaly even stretch to a Ctrl+1 group! Now fear me Brutal COMP!!!
