Command & Conquer 3 Demo, Next Week!

i've been playing the demo a fair bit now and i have a few mixed concerns, i mean it's very enjoyable and hopefully tehy will balance some of the units and weapons

but it too different to the cnc series i think, for one unit upgrades and how it's done in this game is terrible imho and the scale at which currency is aquired, i mean there was a general rule to most of the game including generals, such as a tech centre was always 2000credits and the rader was never available from the start, it's just some small touches of similarity like that which are gone now

maybe it's a good thing used to diversifyt eh series though, especially with the introduction of the scrin (i know RA2:YR had yuri's side bt that wasn't as balanced as it could have been)

i just feel as if it's cnc but with ea trying to implement other winning strategies for a game into it with upgrades and speific unit abilities

well after having a good session on this after initial disapointment i think its great and has now been ordered , just itching to try out multiplayer

whens it gonna be out? I really want it now!
March 29th if you can't count, all things proceeding.

Can't wait for the Scrin á la Starship Troopers.

Rasczak's GDI Ruffnecks, HUUUGH! :D

This game is simply astonishing. I never expected it to be this good, EA have really done the game justice I feel.

I'm now trying to learn the hotkeys, I managed to beat a medium army just now, primarily using those pitbull tanks with updrades.

The game works really at almost max settings:

1.5Gb RAM
X850XT

I get an average FPS of about 28 on skirmish.

Then onwards and upwards! Wins every time :D

Anyone noticed a .....well, not sure if it's a problem or just me - when a plane is approaching from well off screen, if I see it's shadow first it moves slightly jerkily (whilst everything else is button smooth) then when the plane model appears in view, the shadow returns to being perfectly smooth.

Not a problem as such, just wondered if it was me!

Lol yea if you dont take those two other tiberium fields your screwed royally.

Anyhoo, i did a direct hit on the nods nuke silo with Ion cannon and it was still standing >_<

Once that nuke launches ya doomed

Amazing game!!! Keep having a crack on it every hour or so! Is there a way of playing as nod vs gdi? or is it only this way around?

Does anyone know if it takes advantage of dual core cpu's or not?

Ok for those playing the demo what system you got and how does it run ?
[email protected] (375x8) 1.325v
P5N-E
OCZ 2GB XTX rev2 @ 900DDR 2.2vDIMM
7900GTO @ Stock

1680x1050
In-game settings: Everything Max
nVidia CP: SuperSampling, Trilinear Mips, 4xAA, 16xAF

30FPS constant :)

Whats with the 30fps cap? Can it be circumvented? Its not a big deal, but when you are scrolling really fast it can get a bit choppy.

The graphics imho look virtually identical to generals but with some fancy effects added on including higher resolution textures and more detailed units. Luckily this isn't a bad thing at all since I think it looks excellent, runs very well (even with the 30fps cap) and just plain suits the C&C world in general. I'll probably get it anyway just to see the fmv sequences, lol but anything that reminds me of good old C&C can only be a good thing.

I'm also hoping they sorted out all the online bugs that plagued Generals as I used to play that quite addictively for a while.

Currently walking easy and medium armies. Hard armies provide a nice fight but I reckon by tomorrow I'll be up against brutal armies. Hopefully I can start playing online/lan before AI becomes old hat. I like the new AI though and should keep me occupied. Definitely buying it when it comes out.

what details are you using. my mate has a 7800gtx and has to put it down a bit.
All details on max bar shadows which are off on a 6800GT and I never get below the locked 30fps.

Zomgs downloaded and played last nite :o :o :o Awesome lol brung back so many memories of old CnC games so i preordered it straight away, sadly didnt have fraps running but i had it on max res and max settings running on a A64 3200+ at 2.7 with 2 gig of ram, and a 7900GTO at stock, and it ran flawless

I am REALLY hoping that the netcode is a little better than generals was. It either works, or for no apparant reason doesn't. Only online game i've ever had trouble with.

how the hell do u build the towers in skirmish mode on the demo i could do it on the demo map but not on the skirmish
