Command & Conquer (Original)

no get it from amazon uk at £11.47

I got The Ultimate Collection in the sale for less than that, depending on if the OP is interested in/already has the other games then TUC is £24.99 at the moment. Considering the amount of gameplay that's available that's actually not a bad price. :)

Well bought the COMMAND AND CONQUER: THE ULTIMATE EDITION PC DOWNLOAD

and loving RA2 and TiB Sun again! Happy Days!

It's just a pity they haven't updated them to run on Win 8, I've got Win 7 running in a VM just so I can play them all :D

HTML5 :D

Been playing Generals - Zero Hour with my new housemate over LAN which has been good fun except it seems to lag quite often and we can't work out why.

Re-installed Red Alert 2 and had a good blast on that.

Also been through AoE II and Sim City 3000 recently :D Not even sure why I bought BF4 now as I've barely played it..

"I am Seth, just Seth. From God, to Kane, to Seth"

Currently on a very slow playthrough of the whole series, close to starting number four now, unfortunately I'm also on a Skyrim/La Noire kick as well, I watched Mob City the other day and am now devouring all things gangster, might buy a dashing hat for about town.

Amazing that I still remember the cinematics despite first playing the game in 95/96.

Recently reinstalled this and playing via the "First Decade" compilation pack and 1.03 patch. Hugely enjoying myself and currently about half way through the NOD campaign. However is it just me, or did Westwood code the AI with a huge unfair advantage even cheating when it comes to resources and production? On at least a couple of levels now I've either captured or destroyed the enemy construction yard and tiberium refinery. However despite this supposedly starving the opposition of cash the AI continues to churn out vehicles and troops from the respective structures until these too are captured and/or destroyed.

I therefore don't feel much hestitation in using the old sandbag ploy to either "box in" their base or in later levels move defense platforms closer. I know it's a bit of an exploit which of course was no longer available in Red Alert but it kind of redresses the balance.

I'm also finding enemy grenadiers far more accurate and lethal than I remember!

Still a great game to play through again - it's probably 15 years or so since I last played the original and it's fantastic getting it working on Win 7, the only artefacts being the video playback having some distortion and instant scrolling of the map preventing fine positioning.

Hah! You can actually download the Original C&C for free. It is shockingly bad by todays standards, but I remember spending hours on it.

In fact it was this game that coined my whole C&C mantra "You can never have too many tanks!" :p

My favourite trick was to assault their base with a few APC's filled with enginieers, hop them all out and then capture everything :D

I never noticed they could keep building though. Generally if I captured their MCV and their refiery and silos, that put a stop to any building they might do.

Once I had those, I knew the game was in the bag :)

I have to say, though, that I think Generals is still the best C&C game made to date. "China will grow larger!!"

What a spooky prediction :p

Tiberium Sun... o.o

The epic lighting and game effects and the sound.

There was a red hovertank on the game box which was never actually in the game, I spent ages looking for it

See here: http://pics.mobygames.com/images/covers/large/1056363385-00.jpg

Leftmost pic has red double barrel tanks that don't exist.

oh yeahhh!!!looks a lot like the soviet mammoth tank... now I know you could get the GDI mammoth mk.II which was the 6 legged walking slow tank. curious though as to how it, what ever it is, ended up on the cover art. maybe they took it out later in development?

Have now pushed through GDI missions and on the tail end of 13 or 14, where you have to destroy the research centre. NOD MCV and airfield gone, just mopping up the rest and maxing out finances to (hopefully) carry forward to next mission. Need to eliminate a few more power stations to neutralise the dreaded obelisks and the last SAM site so I can bring in the airstrike and the coup de grace with the ion cannon.

Must admit to sandbagging my way into the enemy bases, putting up a few AGT's (out of range of the obelisk) and letting rip. Sell just before the enemy destroys it and you get a few troopers (albeit with 10 sec life expectancy) plus 50% of your money back so cheaper than building a tank.

GDI missions seem slightly easier than the NOD ones which I will return to once GDI is in the bag.

And ATM, best of all playing this - no Steam log in angst!!

Zeppelin rush from RA was my favorite tactic, nothing struck fear into people more than a huge cloud of them arriving haha.
