funny how the biggist culprit in this forum hasn't posted on this thread yet. I find this section of the forum to be "mostly" full of good people.

Perhaps it's just a different market all together in PC gaming? It's all about getting things to run smooth, look better etc... Maybe they're all off having too much fun playing/tweaking their games than to come in here and say "ZOMG you bought it on the WHAAAT!?"
Well, console games don't get much prettier by the years than on release do they ? Sure here are some improvements, but on pc, if you go from a geforce 7800 to a hd4870 and play the latest games, you will notice a big difference
, and you will for a small time without any pc upgrades.It is indeed about getting it to run smooth, nicer, prettier, etc

Selective reading
I avoid the performance threads mostly ( not always though), but the piracy is annoying, too many people whine about it imo ( but nvm bout that)...
I have avoided the console forums purely because of the xbox vs ps discussions, and the pure lack of interest in most of it's games, the games that do interest me, mostly come to pc afterwards
But ohwell here you see threads about costs of hard drives or updates of xbox live or some otehr things too, every forum had it's boring threads

I don't know, it'd bring up pc versus console battles I reckon.
The fps things do annoy me sometimes, but it's a part of pc gaming, people want their pc upgrades justified and then complain a game doesn't run as well as they expected.

There is enough PC vs console stuff already, in both forums. Bringing them together would be catastrophic imo. Especially for multiplatform games, you'd have to have separate threads. I don't want to go into a game thread and find benchmarks and analysis of aliasing and I'm sure the pc guys don't want to come in and find TheStig1.

Like I said I know it was a joke, but like Nokkon also said he isn't the only one that does it.
Baiting him like that is the sort of stuff my OP was on about. I doubt he would have seen it as a joke.
Loads of sensible posts in this thread, shame others cant be kept the same way. Anyway I do agree there is some useless bickering in here, people going round dragging up post people made ages ago and using them as ammo to attack others with, whos to say peoples opinions may have changed since they posted that. I must admit this forum is far better than say some of the gamespot forums or even worse N4G's, but it still creates an atmosphere were people feel unwelcome, uncomfortable posting and some what threatened not how a forum should be IMO. Its up to us not to rise to the bait, and if you get called out reply in a way not to escalate the problem, best option someone keep upsetting you, stick them on ignore! We shouldnt need to increase the amount of Dons in here, we should be adult enough to act in a manner so not to create problems, discussions and bit of teasing yeah thats not a problem but some people step over the line and are just outright rude. I expect they wouldnt say it to you in person so why on a forum were you can hide behind youre keyboard!

This brings out my other point, can a Don in the console section be unbiased if they are a fan of either of the consoles? Theres a few people in here who have all 3 main consoles, but most will admit they prefer one to the other, so they still have a bias, so i dont ever think you can have someone truly unbiased, it would be like not having a Don in the Sports section who is a Liverpool supporter, in case he is bias towards them. It would be up to the Don themsleves to act in an unbiased manner and the fact if they own all 3 or none of this gens consoles should matter one bit if they are doing there job correctly. I can remember a few threads a couple of months back that got very nasty and i havent seen anything like that for ages TBH. Maybe some of the dons need to work out some kind of general etiquette sticky for the top of the page so people know what they should and shouldnt do for example :

the fact a don removed those posts suggest i was not really the problem at all but the thread was ruined due to it

Yeah I do think some rules/guidelines just for the console section (similar to the one in the sporting section) is a good idea. That section is one that has just as much potential for fanboy/fan arguments but usually ends up being quite civil.
Interesting post mate.
On the part I've quoted though, I think it's safe to assume that so long as the person chosen has some common sense then they would do a job.
It would be silly to pick somebody who is openly bias towards one console in particular and one person who is always favouring one over the other of course. But somebody who owned just one could be picked.
On the "3 consoles" part. I own all three and my preference changes depending on what you want out of a console. I've said this time and time again but...
General Use:

For Gaming:

The only reason I hold the 360 above the PS3 is that I owned the 360 before the PS3 and I own more games on it. The games I've been interested in that are cross platform I've demoed on 360/PS3 and made generally the 360 has won.
If a mate asked me to recommend them, that's what I would say... or come around me house and play on each one for a while and make up their own mind. The make up your own mind is currently split, 1 mate bought a 360 and one bought a PS3
