Community Fibre

Community Fibre often seem to break IPv6 by giving you an allocation but not having it work, try turning it off to see if the app starts working, and then if you care you can see if their support can help.

This. Had it happen again to me twice a couple of weeks ago. Usually a router restart fixes it, but if that doesn't turning off IPv6 (which you need to do in the web UI for the supplied Linksys router) will work.

Thanks, it seemed to be this.

Turned off ipv6, app started working fine without vpn. I turned it back on and it still works  Don't know why, it definitely on as the phone has an external ipv6 address (checked whatsmyip), but it's now working.

Fine here on Android.
Thanks for checking, seemed to be something to do with ipv6 messing up.

Hmm, I'm on an older package too, but recently I had a look at my routers IP and it no longer has a 1 hop check in tracert, or identical internal and external IPs since a recent change CF made to the local connections. So you might have got changed over without even realising.

Checked, still no cgnat as far as I can tell. ipv4 listed in the router is the same ip that whatsmyip shows and a tracert to it is just 1 hop.

Oooh. That means for some reason I got migrated over and that either shouldn't have happened, or it's something that'll happen for others (if you're using their router) or if your local connection (not your connection but the hub nearby your router connects to) has work done. As mine are no longer the same since they did some work recently. Will need to look into this further in the morning.

Anyone else having CF issues, looking on down detector it looks like issues are being reported.

I still have have my original provider so not causing me any issues apart from being a bit annoying as had to switch the TV back while they sort it.

Working fine here, my next CF maintenance in my area is not due to 28th May.

Switched routers, now ipv6 doesn't work. Does anyone know any fix? Switched from the old mx4200 provided router to the new mini 'mx5600' one.

Called them and they had to clear the mac address tables. Was fixed after that.
That's one issue if you want to move to your own router. It's fine if you start with your own router straight away (the installers will ask which router you want to use, the supplied Linksys or your own) since it will lock to the first device's MAC address. Either you clone the old MAC or call up to clear it.

Got my Community Fibre installed this week. Massive difference from Sky broadband, I won't have to limit my Steam downloads to 3Mb
:)
. Using my Deco M5 for whole house coverage.
Just wondering if I can replace the 2 community fibre boxes (modem and router) with 1? If so, any recommendations not too pricey would be appreciated.

Even if you do find one it will be expensive as the ONT (modem) can do 10G.

How? 10gbit switches /routers are cheap nowadays.

My mikrotik router that does 10gbit cost around 200 bucks. 8 port poe with two fibre connections.
Sorry, didn't make myself clear, I mean trying to find a device that works as both a router and an ONT with XGS-PON support. It's generally cheaper to have the two separate. In fact I would just keep using the Adtran ONT since it's already very capable.

Edit: Just realised if @molinari did want to cut down on devices, they could just replace the Linksys with one of the Deco M5s they have and set that to router mode, but they'll lose the extra ethernet ports, and will also need to contact CF to clear the mac address on their end so the M5 will connect. Alternative option is to just replace the M5 setup with more Linksys nodes as they can work in mesh, not to mention they're also WiFi 6.

Are CF still doing the referral £100 thing?

After they messed up my last install (the was no box on the telegraph pole yet) my year of plusnet is finally coming to an end...

Looks like it is £50 each now rather than £100 each :(

I have a referral link if you want. But to be honest at that price you are better of using one of those cashback sides as they likely will give more. Though those can sometimes be a bit of a hit and miss, but if anything goes wrong you could chase it up.

Finally got the email to create an online account. Still pretty basic, can see what package you have, bills, and change personal details, but things like changing/upgrading plans still requires you to reach customer support.

There's a £150 voucher for Amazon right now on uswitch so I think I'll go with that

Got it all installed today. Everything things to be working. Running the speed test in the Linksys app I get 1.1Gb up and down.

No mention of my £150 Amazon voucher though. I think I'll give them a ring 1st thing tomorrow. I imagine it'll come through after the cooling off period, but I'm going to make sure...
