COMPANY OF HEROES 2

It plays OK - early flamers in a half-track are a little OP if rushed early, arty is too cheap (spammed pretty often) but that's often the way in 4 v 4/3 v 3.

Not keen on the snow-storm mechanic (seems to encourage vehicle spamming too much on those maps).

Micro seems less important (compared to CoH 1) by quite a margin for infantry, I'm not the best CoH player but I did get to L15/L16 2v2 for a few of factions (US/Brit/PE) for a while - seems like skill is less of a factor in this one.

I'll keep at it as it may just be that the game isn't finished, but I'm not too keen on the troop selections for the Russians - the Germans seem more able to counter them with simply early infantry spam (as long as you save munis for a couple of panzershrecks) you can run with 4 grenadiers & own pretty hard, once that vet builds you become unstoppable.

Find that people who spam grenadiers easy if I am honest just by good use of molotovs which are awesome when used correctly or a sniper or 2 in scouts cars is great as Russian.

The 2-3 MG start and quick OP Flame Half track is a different matter altogether lol.

I figured out pretty fast just to spam MG's and tech straight to rocket launcher thing I guess it's the new stukka.

To me it feels like a combination of coh, world in conflict and a blizzard/c&c game the tanks etc seem a bit cartoon like ? it's definitely not as tight as coh.

Not sure how this works, can anyone explain this?

CoH 2 beta stress test appeared on my account within the last few days, not sure when.

I haven't pre-ordered or signed up to anything except the alpha which was many months ago. How come i have this stress test available ?

Other friends on steam dont have this game available to them, is there a time limit on this stress test? i.e. a few days.

Just seems odd how it appeared in my account and ive done nothing for it.

I lost a game against an easy AI. :(

I'm so bad at this.

The AI can be ridiculously hard at this. Best tactic I've found so far is simply defend right from the off, and after a few hard attacks you're able to push them all the way back on the counter-offensive and wipe them out ;)

I've found the germans don't seem overly interested in making vehicles, so I tend to try and find a chokepoint to hold, get scout cars to send their engineers packing then secure a section with MG's and a mortar, then build a tank building.

As soon as you call in a T-34 the germans tend to have very little to counter it with, especially if you keep it moving, do hit and run attacks. When you do find the PaK they've built, snipe it out or hit it with infantry, then go on a T-34 killing spree, with engineers following. Support it with a SU-76 if you can, or even a T-70 - they do good work if used as a support tank.

And if you're feeling dirty, call in an IS-2 :D

To all that have pre-ordered the game, I can see that you get quite a bit of extra stuff with the Digital CE but is it all really worth it? I don't understand what the Commander Archetypes do. Are they similar to the doctrine's that you could choose in the original? If I don't buy the Digital CE, is it likely that I'll end up not being very competitive online without these extras?

the user interface is poorly designed and huge, important information such as unit pinned and suppression status are too hard to read and the use of green as the friendly colour rather than blue is a bad decision. I don't see any reason to play this over vanilla CoH right now

That's the fault of the German player, they obviously have no idea.

Germans do not have any anti tank until you upgrade to phase 2.

the UI was my single biggest gripe with the first game, it just took up so much space on screen, truly wished they added some sort of scaling option for that.

By all accounts its just as bad in COH2, thats really the only thing will put me off buying it.
