Compatibly - a D15 + Dark Pro memory and 400q?

how about the Be Quiet dark pro 3
It's a quality cooler and should fit comfortably - more fiddly to fit than the Noctua.

You're dealing with such small margins - it's really down to preference.

Preference being: Fit, future build compatibility, weight, silence and performance...

The D15 has better performance (it is the Daddy) - low fan speed performance in particular - bigger fans.

Cooling per buck it loses out slightly - but that doesn't seem to be an issue?

Did you look at pull/pull performance? - if it was comparable to normal orientation then you may have your decision.

from what I have read there's one 1-2c difference
So negligible real world difference. How were the case fans setup? (link will do)

I've presumed there's the space for the out take fan plus re-orientated heatsink fan - will need confirming/double checking (would be very surprised if not).

With your planned 2/3 front intakes i shouldn't see you having any issues at stock. Your CPU may not be as 'impressively' chilly compared to your 280 rad top venting but the temps should still be very respectable with near silent results.

But be prepared for the size of this thing - it's huge. I mean house brick huge. People see them in reviews but can still be shocked at the size when they come to unbox and fit them.

it was just from forum posts, as long as it fits I don't care about size or looks, last option keep the aio and front mount it
I think we're over thinking this :).

But, you could certainly try that out first - but obviously slightly heavier.

Not sure about performance comparison when front mounted compared to the Noctua - this is where doyll's expertise comes in.

May have a google...

It's all marginal again and case dependent.

Reality is you have a quality AIO - if the 0.4Kg difference isn't an issue i would see if you can save yourself £80.

The 6Kg in case difference is the real win - saving £80 would be another.

I think so, if I don't like it, I can always purchase in the future
Yep, plus it will be really interesting comparing the temp results to your present case and its AIO orientation.

I'll stay subbed to the other thread and look out for your conclusions.

ok just checked the phanteks to tall
Phanteks PH-TC14PE spec say 170mm tall, but cooler itself is actually 160mm tall. The added height is with fans. I had a Fractal Design Define R2 spec pg 165mm CPU clearnace and had my first PH-TC14PE in it with no problems, but I did change the crossbar thrumb screw for a normal screw. ;)

The mounting crossbar has a tall thumb screw in it to hold crossbar onto base. That screw is only used to hold crossbar in place while mounting cooler. Once cooler is mounted it does nothing. Many cooler mounts don't attach the crossbar to base, but it is harder to position and start the mounting screws. Anyway, you can remove that thumb screw or replace it with .. can't remember if it was HDD mounting screw or optical drive mounting screw .. or just remove it after you mount cooler and center fan can be mounted flush with top of cooler fins.

The only reason D15 give 1-3c lower temps is it's 1500rpm fans versus many other top tier coolers having 1200rpm and 1300rpm fans. The A15 fans are no better at same rpm than PH-F140HP_II or TY-147A, 149, 143 fans at same rpm.

Bottom fin is 47mm above top of CPU, there are 2mm tabs below bottom fin so there is 45mm from bottom most point of cooler fins to top of CPU.

RAM clearance to cooler is CPU clearance to bottom of fins / tab plus 5mm

Team Group Dark Pro is 44.15mm tall complete, and 37mm with top removed.

How about you use your on mathematical skills of addition and subtraction and then tell me if your RAM will fit under cooler or not. ;)

Agreed, the Phanteks PH-TC14PE - is great bang for buck - I recommend them for new builds if top tier air cooling is required. A really tidy cooler in size and performance - looks good too. Appreciate the clarification re fan: performance size.

Thanks for your help with this doyll, it was worth the dedicated thread.

EDIT: Just noticed you posted at same time :)

so will it fit my ram
Are you still on the fence Paul?

yes I am Plec, if my maths are correct it should fit without top removed, am I correct Doyll
Yes, TC14PE fins will clear RAM, but fan on front will not fit without removing top of RAM heat spreader, and even then it will be a tight fit if it did .. as explained before.
