Here's my attempt, promise not to laugh. Some really good entries so far, from what I've seen, sort of motivated me to have a go.

Can a OCUK employee please confirm whether using the actual predator and alien are out of the question???
It will save me time in making anymore with them in, and I can edit on friday (as I cant get to a computer for the next 2 days)

I'd be incredibly surprised if they are allowed to use someone else's intellectual property for financial gains. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it wouldn't be.

But yes, someone should say something soon otherwise a lot of people's time and efforts are going to be wasted - and that isn't very fair.

Either that will happen, or the chosen winner will just happen to not have used the images of the Alien and the Predator franchises. :eek: No issues all round then. Hmm.

Yes but it would be very annoying if I had spent 3 hours making something with AvP when if the client had confirmed otherwise, my time could be spent designing a better option, rather than under the false pretense that I was working correctly.
Evens up the competition.
 
I think if you want a serious entry you need to be providing a design that you hold the rights to in entirety. So use the stock case imagery provided and draw your own star fields etc.

Unfortunately I don't think we have a design on either thread where everything has been created by the designer and/or is legitimately licensed.

But it's Gibbo's final decision, and he may be happy to risk using copyrighted images and intellectual property. Given how close we are to a Predators film I would say it would not be a wise choice.
 
The clean version of my first entry is totally without copyright. The text is a free download, as is the image of earth. The centre piece and stars were created by me.

However I want to improve on my second design, and this would be easier if I knew my limitations.

What would have been a wise choice would have been to clear this up before the thing started so people didn't waste hours of their time.
 
Are there restriction on the branding that can be applied to the image? I know that while working for intel if I wanted to use any of their images I couldn't alter them in any way.
