Competitors - a clarification

Not to add to the drama :p but I'll honest, the majority of the community who posted last night were not trolling, a vague sticky was posted and genuine questions were being asked along with opinions on the rules made at the time. I think at least a apology by valkia would be and nice and dare I say it, his admin rights on the forum removed.

The rules you have posted now are perfectly understandable and fair, no direct linking or mention of hard ware by competitors and games you sell, if only it was clear like that last night there wouldn't of been so much drama :p

That said, I still don't agree with the games area, I think munz made an excellent post to why on the first page.

I know it's always said that the Forum and shop are seperate but at the end of the day, who would still buy anything from the shop if they got forum banned? I wouldn't.

Well as you'd lose free next day 7 delivery which is what makes ocuk competitive in a lot of cases I doubt many would.

also if perma'd can you still use the CS forum?

October is going to be funny.

some of the mods have always been on the edge of ridiculous - thats just the way it is. Crying about it aint gonna change anything.
Its the age old thing , dont like it - dont post or buy stuff from ocuk.

seems like i missed a right forum treat last night, oh well.

Yes but not a game we sell as that is direct competition.

There is no cover up, no deleted threads (moved, but now moved back) and no bans. I've told Valkie he's a prat and Ace modder doesn't make forum policy (neither do I for that, but Spie is off and I'll take the lead in his absence).

Wanting people sacked for getting some forum rage? Some perspective required I think, what kind of employer would that make OcUK?

A good one?

If I ranted and raged at customers I would be sacked...

Has my question been answered yet? I've looked through every post and can't find an answer.... :(

Steam 4 pack game offers. Are we still allowed to do them Telescopi?

Say when the new COD comes out or what ever and Steam do one of their 4 pack deals for which means the game is cheaper per person are we allowed to start a thread to get people to group up to buy a pack together?

What we need is a sticky naming all the "competitors" that we are not allowed to name.

nah the op in this thread has made it clear. We can name any game anywhere as long as its a game that OCuK doesn't sell. If that place also sells hardware under no circumstances can you reference or discuss the hardware.

Simples

That includes all the direct competitors, rainforests, players, catalogue based companies (highstreet and proper catalogues), games shops in town, DVD rental shops, electrical retails and all?

Seems abit OTT, I shop where I trust and who offers me the best price. I have no allegiance to anyone. Most people google on price or visit price comparison sites anyway.

I can understand if I was saying Xyz had cheaper graphics cards but isn't the rest a minefield?

Up until now there has been no problem stating Steam - D2D et el. The issue arose yesterday when a post appeared quoting the news of Amazons new Digital Download Service for the UK in October.

You can read the threads but it has been made clear in this post that we are allowed to name amazon and the others in the context of Games only within this forum. However they are asking us as a community to avoid as much as possible discussing game deals at those sites when OCuK are stocking the same game. To me thats fair enough as the few titles currently stocked and likely to be stocked in the near future should enable us not to flaunt that request. It would also appear that the OP of this thread is suggesting that the DONS will apply a common sense approach as lets be frank Rift has been named in the Daily Deals thread multiple times and its in stock at OCuK.

The issue flared up after the Amazon announcement and one or two ill informed mods attempted to block the use of the word on this forum at all. That has since been revoked today by what is evidently a much more level headed and reasoned DON. Take a bow Tele.

ahaha when will this madness stop. ocuk has such an appauling customer rating on google and other shopping sites, it has awful things said about it on the internet forums we are not allowed to mention you would think that they could control themselves better, you are right Tele is good but there has been some rotten eggs as Dons in recent years, just fuels the bad press OCUK has.

Gibbo and tele for presidents!!!

seeing as the majority *imo* of mods on the forums, dont live with the ban hammer in easy reach, i think it is safe to say that any forum, big or small will always have the "odd one/two" that take everything as a mission to live by the rules.

With most the mods i think that if you post something that was not intentional then they will either lock/remove the thread or give you a warning firstly and tidy your post up , remove links etc. Where as if it is instentional to take business elsewhere or direct attack against OCUK then a suspend/ban would be put in play depending on the severity

I can see why people are narked but on the plus side with what tele done so far i think it shows that the forum loyality still remains with the bans being lifted, threads being put back in play.

Branching in to new sections of business it make sense not to jump in heads first and buys thousands of copies of games that might sell, so babysteps are needed to see if a profitable(sp?) outcome can be made, which like been mentioned if things go to plan, expansion would be the next step.

I always thought most people used the comparison sites/google shop to check prices anyway so i dont know why people need to link to competitors with prices, i would see it as quite rude if someone was posting on a site i hosted and then was showing others cheaper prices elsewhere, but again this would boil down to personal characteristics.

*puts on flamesuit :D*
