Computer dead

Can't see how they did come into contact - all the standoffs were in correctly, no bumps or ridges on that part of the case - RIP computer :(

that sux. if you are happy that it is just the B2 socket that looks damaged, you can try to boot it out of the case with just 1 stick in a good slot, see if it posts. but like i said, i dont know what else is around there, but if it was going to do any damage you would imagine it had by now.

my had the a similar problem. the prob was that a screw had fell though the top of the case and stuck behind the mobo.

Just spoke to OC support re the R12 chip burning out, the lad there said it had happened to one of their prebuilds on a P8P67, exact same place - He is getting it RMA'd for me, so Win \o/

thats good news :) did they say whether it did any damage to any other components?

The lad basically said that It would have shorted before it could damage anything else, fingers crossed :) Thanks for trying to help bud, appreciated btw

atleast you got to the bottom of it. what you have to ask yourself though, is will you get the same problem with a new board, maybe if its a design fault they will let you get a different model?

He said he had seen it happen 3 times out of several hundred P67s sold, so if it did happen to me again it would be incredibly bad luck :D

Bump - finally got my RMA'd MoBo, and a new case, tested it all out, put it back together and it's fine- turns out it was just a fault with the p67. All for the best really - my old one wasnt B3 rev anyways so should have returned it anyway :D
