Concerned about the state of PC gaming

what this man said

and

than on pc? u must be joking right? think of every pc game ever made, then think of what you have for the 360, then realise what a stupid comment that is.

i agree with this man also

Please don’t call me stupid. I said IMO (In my opinion) did I say this was totally the case? I’m sorry but I can walk into a games store for example a rental store a pick any game I’d like for the Xbox, can I do that for the PC? No. Walk into any large high street store and I can guarantee there will be a massive selection of console game to those on the PC. There are plenty of massive exclusive/games on the console that are not out for the PC take GTA4 for example, Burnout, PGR4 etc..

Consoles are copying the functionality of pcs and are therefore absorbing the genres. The PS3 can already run linux, I wouldn't be surprised if the xbox720 runs some windows variant. Desktops won't survive for gaming because they won't do anything above consoles - almost everyone will use consoles/laptops as their normal computer. It's not really pc gaming dying out - it's more consoles turning into pcs.

Aye i agree with that, they're using pc hardware/software combining it with consoles to give the best gaming experience. I just want to be abe to use a mouse and keyboard for FPS/upgrade graphics, rather than buying a brand new console every 2 years or however long it takes these days

How? Please cite reasons. I'm not being snippy, I genuinely want to know these reasons.

A pc is much more customisable than a console so you can always make it do more just by adding stuff. Whether the average user wants this is another matter. The online thing is rubbish though.

The only C&C games that were on console was the original C&C and Red Alert 1. Although they were both very playable on the PS1, once i played them on the PC i couldnt go back to playing them on the console.

Snowdog afaik age of empires is a pc only series.
Age of empires 2 has been out for playstation 2, and command & conquer gold has been too.

If its on consoles then its ported there from pc first.
Did I state otherwise ?

Same for CnC games and civ games.
CnC : yes...
Civ: You are wrong, they are developing a different type of civilization for the console, which aint a port but a new civ game from scratch : ''Civilization Revolution''.
Civ2 was ported for the ps though for pc...

What's your point ?

I would have thought generally it would be a lot smaller now?

Obviously this was pure speculation on my part (I can't find enough historical sales data to back it up), but 15 years ago there weren't actually that many people with gaming PCs in the home. Whereas powerful consoles such as the MD/SNES were out there along with the older/cheaper systems of course. Nowadays most homes have a PC.

That game is class :D Make sure you play the second as well.

I've already completed NOLF2 a couple of years ago. Quite enjoyed it and posts I've read here suggest that the humour in the original is better, so when I saw it going cheap the other day I picked it up. Seems OK so far although I've just got stuck on this stealthy office mission. The alarm keeps getting triggered no matter how careful I am running into the office to shut down the cameras :(

Snowy, i was just saying that if there on consoles then they would be ported from pc to console not the other way around which is how you sounded that it was console to pc lol. Also what a console version of civ has anything to do with what i said is beyond me as i just said the civ series not a specific version of civ.

Currently they're ported from the PC but that could change in the future. If the console ports end up being more successful then they might start using them as lead platforms.
