CONCORD TO SHUT DOWN SEPT 6TH: EVERYONE REFUNDED!

Sony have taken it out back and put it to rest along with the studio

I guess they realised it might not be a good idea to keep throwing money at it in the hopes it turns a profit, still must be difficult to cut your losses at that amount of money which would bankrupt a small town

They didn't learn, it's not the genre, or the gamers. It's the game.

Deadlock is doing just fine.

Deadlock is also a 3rd person Dota/League clone in regards to the larger game mechanics taking place. (Lanes, jungle creeps, item shop etc) My understanding was Concord was a straightforward hero shooter / overwatch clone with a full price tag attached.

Correct, they are two different games. Deadlock isn't even a shooter.

Concord was a generic hero shooter with a box price released in a market that is already saturated, with multiple very successful titles.

Deadlock was used because it is also a game released in an already established genre with many successful games and yet it is doing just fine.

It always baffled me why people defend obviously bad games, I was calling out Diablo 4, 2 days into its early access period for being bad and the backslash was insane, yet low and behold a few weeks later, more and more people were saying the same things. It's taken Blizzard a year+ to fix the game, and even then it's not great, it's just ok now.

Still a pretty weird comparison to make, especially because you even say in your post ‘it’s not the genre’ - when these are clearly two different genres.

Concord was always going to have comparisons to Overwatch as well as the countless other hero shooters that exist now so unless it hit the ground running (especially not being free to play too) it was going to have a tough job convincing people to get on board.

I’m not sure people here are defending bad games, a lot of people here thought that Concord had a few good/ok elements to it (the shooting/gunplay was actually very fun) but the majority of the game was really poor. I enjoyed parts of the beta but there was no reason I’d ever have chosen to play it over OW2 or something else.

Diablo 4 was fun at launch, had a poor season (or two) following launch and is now fun again. Everyone is entitled to form their own opinions on the games they play, we can all have a different experience even when playing the same title.
