Condemned is scary

The problem I had with it was that it wanted to walk you through the game by the hand, telling you what equipment to use and when. You should have had to make all the discoveries with your equipment by yourself.

Some of them arent prompted, you need to get all of those to get the Master Detective badge (I didnt). The second one will apparently be granting you your wish fully though.

I absolutely loved condemned - still haven't killed the final boss guy though :(
If you play it during the day with lots of hustle and bustle in the house you'll probably not get the full effect of it, if you play it with a "I'm not going to let this game scare me" attitude then you are doing yourself out of an experience.

Like any decent horror film you need the right ambience. You benefit from a silent house and a darkened room, you benefit from letting the game suck you in.

I found it very creepy and it made me jump several times. I found the store level with the looped and distorted Xmas music really freaky. Condemned is fantastic. It builds tension, it uses sound (best with 5.1) brilliantly to disorientate you, it uses shadow and so much of it is about what you don't really see properly, things flicking past in the shadows and some out of the blue shocks. I look forward to the sequel.
