The Conroe is awaited - had very bad luck trying to get an ES (nearly lost a small fortune trying - thankfully, despite many threads i have read, paypal were excelent and got me all my monies back - phew)
Could you shed some light on this because I've bought a Conroe ES not long ago via Paypal.... :(

Really hope you get it working Stelly, I know what its like to be in your position.

Feel like someone kicked 7 shades of poo outta you :(.

Anyway, good luck.

If you do kill your self trying.... can we have a screen shot please ;)

I can see it now, Stelly dragging himself across the carpet to press the Print Screen button before collapsing on his computer case :D

Looking at my sig all I have got at the moment is the memory, TFT and watercooling kit :( I want 6600, I want my Bad Axe, I want whatever else I ordered but can't remember what it is!

Thats it it, going to play with my etch-a-sketch now.

all @ stock settings using a Scythe Miné in an antec p180

Something wrong there. Unless your room is like a furnace because of the current weather.

Have you researched to make sure that there are no issues with the software and sensors on your motherboard to make sure you are getting an accurate temperature there?

Also, are you sure you applied the thermal paste correctly and that the heatsink is seated properly?

Deffo reseat your heat sink, they are heavy so maybe its not flush ?

on stock vcore im only hitting 42 deg @ 3.4 Ghz, though i am on water, but its not that much better.

I'm gonna go on a little rant now, basicly all this cooling your sysyem down stuff is REALLY starting to **** me off now because NEVER in all the years i've been building computers have I been able to get my temps down to what others claim thiers to be, I'm hearing people say that thier load temps on intel stock cooler is no more than 50c etc I'm sorry but I think they are talking out their ******* ****, anyhow I'll try one last time  ,

now do you have to aply the compound on a dual core cpu any different than a single core ? , I've been using AS5, I just put a very small blob (grain or two's worth) in the middle and place the heatsink evenly on top then fasten it down corner to corner.

I do appreciate the help it's just high temps have been an on going thing me for years now, I have about £200's worth of cpu coolers in my cuboard from from last year alone.

When i said stock i meant vcore not cooler as i am on water.

The grain or two of rice is correct for AMD64's, im not sure whether its correct for these as i havent seen one with the IHS removed. Though when using AS5 and running with 1.485 vcore at 3.8Ghz i was hitting 60 deg when duel priming.

People have said the bad axes show +20 deg the temps, so maybe yours is like that but i didnt notice it when i had one.

Try a duel prime now as that will raise your temps much higher than a game can.

thats an odd way of applying the paste

i always apply the paste on the core and spread it evenly over
i use my finger to do it although others use a credit card

i do the same on the heatsink

(covering the core and sink surface using a very thin layer)

then get them both together

when you remove the cooler, is the paste fully spread on the cpu?
