If you want better contact with an intel cpu then you can sand down the IHS and it does the job pretty nicely. All silver scrapes off to be copper underneath and its much flatter then but it does wipe the warranty out I think

The arm mechasnism needs the heatspreader to work and clamp down so removing it would be pointless as its this that applies pressure on the pins.

Remember that on LGA 775 the pins are no longer on the chip but in the socket itself

So do you think i could wack a few degrees off my cpu temp doing this? and is it something you have done before, or is something you've read?
