wow, I get early 80's dual priming

What heatsink fan are you using Lowrider?

Oh and Stelly, post the rest of your spec in your sig mate, I would be interested to see just what set up you have when you finally get everything sorted out the way you want it mate!!

Scythe Miné with the fan that came with it, i've tried reseating it 4 times already, useing AS5 compound, I've tried a couple of grains in the middle and also layering the whole cpu with a fin layer and the temps seem to be the same, tbh I don't think the stock fan is fast enougth @ only 1500 rpm, I'm tempted to get ninja

excuse the noobish questions but i've never really o/c'd before :) ,

I've just set the multiplier to 13 and voltages set to defualt to try and get 3.4 gig but as soon as I get to windows it freezes, tbh I thought I would be able to get 3.4gig on defualt voltages, i've tried setting the mutliplier at 12 to get 3.2 gig and that seems fine, what should I do to get it higher ?,

.

I would have thought upping the 13x multiplier would be enough to work tbh. Try the 12 multiplier and raise the fsb to 284, that will get you to 3.4 Ghz too. If that fails then try 1.3v

using everest it says that my cpu core voltage is 1.15, that seems a bit low even for default.

Everest reads my vcore too low, so im guessing its the same for you.

Daz any chance of doing a quick run on 06 with the 7950?

would be nice to see what 06 does for the kentsfeild.
afaik its programmed to utilise all the cores avaliable.

thanks :)

How much further do you reckon i could overclock it...?

Well if EasyRider is clocking to 3.6Ghz from a 2.4Ghz and getting temp of 70C. You have plenty of scope @ 3.6Ghz at temps of 59C

I would be looking to go over 4Ghz... Just keep an eye on the temps!!!

If it runs stable with Dual Prime with no probs then you have cracked it!!. After all I dont suppose the CPU would ever be under that much load, even when multi-tasking under normal circumstances!

I saw a seriously impressive overclock done with a x6800 last night on another forum, he was using stupid high volts and extreme cooling. 1.7v and vapochill I think it was but he was well over 4ghz.

Dont they come with a higher wattage rating even at stock

Fastest that I have seen is 5Ghz on the x6800

I'm aiming for 4Ghz+ (4.2-4.3 would be nice) on my modded Vapo LS, just need to get my arse out of gear and stick the 775 mounting kit on it that I got from OCUK. :p

Lets hope Moores law continues :D

As the new Conroe microarchitecture is calculating 4 instruction per clock cycle/per core over the AMD64 and the P4 Netburst architectures which carry out 3 instruction per cycle/per core. If you are running a X6800 @ 5Ghz am I right in suggesting that it is the equivalent of 6.6Ghz in comparison to the P4 amd64 architecture?
