***Conroe Post here***

I've upped the voltage but still having problems, :(

First up I tried running the multiplier @ 13x and the core voltage @ 1.4v (to achieve 3.4) , still no dice tho, windows loads but is all stuttery,

Next I treid putting the multiplier back down to 12x, upping the fsb to 6% (to achieve 3.4) and core voltage left @ 1.4v, this time windows loads fine but fails 32m super PI allways, then I try losening the mem timeing down to 5-5-5-15, still super PI fails, so I even drop the mem speed down from 667 to 533 but still supper PI fails,

does this mean I have to up the core voltage even more :( , tbh I'm not happy about that, surely somethings wrong if I can't even get 3.4 @ 1.4v, anymore advice would be greatly appreciated

Well i had to put mine upto 1.4-5v to get 3.5 and it crashed at duel prime any higher.

Ok guys, just before I went to the gf house I decided to have a go... got my Extreme running at 3.8@ 1.5v and had prime running for 30 minutes before I had to go, I know its not long but its long enough... but I think its stable and I can run superPi as well

looks like your in the same boat as me then, I'm gonna try for another week then I think I may sell the X6800 and go for a 6600 or less as they seem to be doing a lot better :(.

I think its just your board mate, wait to see what comes out

LOL I have seen a low E6300 hit 3.5GHz, what a ripoff...
Btw got a E6300 sitting next to me eagerly waiting to be clocked this weekend :)

Nope not long enough I'm afraid...

should have left it running while you were at the GF.

You need at least 8hrs error free to be sure its a stable good overclock.

Nah I just think it is hilarious to see people spending so much money (usually there dads cash on top of that) to buy the fastest chip not knowing that lower clocked models give so much more oc. I guess you got to learn it the hard way. :D

Well I certainly proved that today with a basic oem 6300 that hit 3.360 on air with a £7 cooler without breaking a sweat on default volts with no tweaking. Makes you wonder :D

I see where you're coming from here. Isn't the whole point of overclocking to take a cheap chip & run it faster than anything on the market. I think if we are going to be spending nearly £800 on a single CPU we've lost sight of the whole point.

If results were just a question of who has / is prepared to spend the biggest pile of cash then where would skill & knowledge come in? I think implying that these guys sponged the money from their dad is a bit tight though. :p

Just my 2 cents :)

Me too... just because I want the best doesnt mean that I'm spending someone elses money, some people just get jealous and like to pick fights...

I know I know... but I'm not going home untill Sunday so I didnt want to leave it... I will more then likely run it on Sunday for a good 8 hrs

anyway back to my problem, I've just tried booting @ 13x on the mutliplier @ 1.5v and even then it just locks up on windows :( , no extreme can be that bad @ clocking surely, perhaps it is a mobo fault,

actually you don't think it could be the psu, I'm running a tagan 480, spec in sig + 2 hardrives & 2 optical drives
