ocing the PCI-E bus? Any idea what difference that makes? Never even thought about it.. :o

I've read on some message boards and from the blogs of suicide clockers that overclocking the PCI-e bus is essential. In fact the advice I got was to go to 110mhz as that'd be pretty safe. Apparently 120+mhz is what the benchmark legends use.

I am following this thread carefully, congrats to those who have taken the plunge at such an early stage.. personally I am more cautious about new hardware, so I might wait until Vista is out :)

Please let us know how it 'feels' in terms of overall Windows / gaming performance.

UPDATE

Ok.. I think that the motherboard is screwed, I'm not getting a post or anything... annoyed? well its hot and I have been at it since 6... so a little I guess!!! I dont think that I'm going to have it up and running until next week... going to bed... I need to forget

Damn. I'm sure you'll get it sorted.

Did you check what revision your Bad Axe is?

Unlucky dude, hope you get it working, I had a hard day setting mine up, nearly cracked my mobo b-cos my Scythe Miné was so dam tight to get on, and then after messing around in the bios I accidently booted the X6800 up at 15X on the multiplier, bios speaker had a complete fit :D , tried recovering the bios but would'nt recover, left the machine of for a while and then it decided to work  :).

tried that with the BIOS.... going to take out the motherboard and putting it on a box and trying it on that, but I'm off out tonight with the gf so I'm not going to be able to do that untill Friday, I dont think its going to work because I dont get an beeps off the motherboard or anything... I'm right in thinking that the Intel Bad Axe has an onboard speaker?

Yes its true Intels dont really matter that much about timings as their memory management is not on the chip but on the board and are better then AMDs

Make sure all the components are seated correctly on the motherboard. I was stumped on my last build when nothing would even turn on, but found out that I hadn't seated the RAM properly. I took them out and put them back in, and it worked like a charm.

Hope that helps!

Tried that as well... it didnt work with, tried all the RAM configs and still nothing.... might take the RAM out of my computer in work and try that at home

yes the Badaxe has an onboard speaker, I guess thats means you have'nt heard anything from it yet, try booting the pc up with no memory in, you should get 3 beeps, that may help determin if the m/b is dead or not, if it does beep three times, then try booting up in recovery bios mode,

you've proberbly done these steps but also try,

Make sure the exrta 8 pin power connecter is connected and if so connected properly,

Re-seat the cpu

Make sure nothing is shorting the board out (screw wedged in an odd place etc)

Done that too lol... and I'm right in thinking that it only goes in one way, and thatit goes underneath the metal plate thingy that secures it to the board?

yes , but sometimes if you leave the cpu onto a surface it might get dirty , even the slightest dirt dust etc can prevent a perfect contact.

unplug the battery , clear the CMOS using a thin wire , boot in debug load defaults , boot with a pci vga , just try anything. ;)

I ahve put thermal paste on the CPU... would it not beep if the CPU was not seated right?? I have my trusty voodoo that I will have to take home to test it out :)

ok can you also tell me which is clear and which is not on the BIOS??

is it...
