Lol, I'm not his contact, I just happen to pretty much work for Intel. I don't know if this contact is real or not yet but the fact he got the chip off FCG which I sourced on XS for him, leads me to think it's bull.

Agreed. Maybe he does know someone an Intel, but I guess they work at reception or clean the bins after everyones gone home - they're certainly not anyone in any position of power. Why else would someone spend £485 or whatever it was on a Conroe from an XS member unless it was their only available option?boardy said:
Problem with stuff like this is that its the classic "boy who cried wolf" situation. He could come back and say he'd overclocked his Conroe to 1.21 giggawatts or whatever now and I'd have a tough time believing it, and an even tougher time actually caring about it. I suppose since hes getting you to do it for him lends credibilty to it - but whatever happens it'll be your overclock achievement, not his.

Sources at Intel [Pokemon] have leaked an early sample of the much anticipated Intel Conroe chip and after testing on the UK's fastest PC. It will run slower than it's predessor and MELT if user's try and overclock it.
User's are calling it the Intel Conwoe even before it officially hits the shelves.
An Intel spokesperson added:

I started reading, as the conroe looks promising and I might upgrade my northwood soon.
Ended up finding out: someone's grandad died, someone's ex girlfriend worked for intel and some other random stories.
Amazing how some people seem to try to make themselves out to be "the best" etc
overclocking used to be bang-for-buck rather than boasting or wasting money
I started reading, as the conroe looks promising and I might upgrade my northwood soon.

That's my mate Pete who helped me by pouring the LN2 and keeping the chip at a very stable -100 for boots and lower for runs.He also lent me his RAM for the LN2 as it's capable of much tighter timings than mine and also higher frequencies at those timings, as he found out when I clocked it higher than he'd ever had it before.
Pete and I are heading up teamUK atm, and are also looking at getting an ES Kentsfield chip thru either my job or one of Pete's sources.
