Conspiracy Theories....

Cant believe you missed the flat earth one!

Ive got a flat earther who's quite prominent on youtube that goes to my gym, he's a lovely guy but he's mad as a brush, he does videos on youtube of water not sticking to the surface of a basketball and "proves" that it means water cant stick to the earth.

I have a weird lust over looking at comments on any nasa pic.
Obviously the outlets put up the dodgy ones.
I don't know if I feel more pity for those engaging with the flat earthers or the flat earthers themselves.

I actually get the moon landing being fake. Like it does seem ridiculous looking at the kit that got there. I'm not saying I think it's fake obviously.. But I get how many could.

But flat earth... It's unbelievable. So many people would have to be in on it. It literally makes no sense.

The Russians and Chinese would score a massive win by debunking that, but obviously all these countries and governments that hate each other are colluding to keep it secret.

Clearly all scientists are inducted into the same secret society and sworn to confidentiality at university. :)

Scientists, all the profitable telecoms companies and satellite companies.. They must all be in on it.

i personally feel the moon landings being fake is as ludicrous as flat earth, but im a massive early space race fan, ive met 4 of the apollo astronauts at conventions back in the 90's - i can see why people can think "well we cant go to the moon now, how could we in the 60s" but literally every single moment of the race to the moon was documented, the hardest part was sending the rocket into space and thats something that hundreds of thousands of people saw the launches with their own eyes.

We are going back to the moon in 2026 (was 2025 but its been put back a year) and these guys will just say its all fake and cgi. The apollo deniers are way way worse than flat earthers though, people lost their lives getting to the moon, in the space shuttle disaster and the deniers say the shuttle astronauts are still living and post pictures of lookalikes with similar names, they doorstop them and try to get them to admit that the shuttle disaster was a false flag.

Interestingly i was watching one of these diving treasure shows a couple of years ago and they found a huge big of challenger, as soon as i saw it i said "thats challenger" and as the episode panned out it was indeed that.

Hah yes, Professor Dave provided me with some proper binge entertainment and I actually learned quite a lot from some of his videos too, so that's a bonus.

I loved it when he called Dave Weiss out (I think it was), "Shall we do the math now together? do you want to learn something today?" :D
that was a fantastic video - Dave Weiss tries to find some common ground, all that guy wants to do is shill his flat earth app. The scimandan breakdowns of the "Level" documentaries are great too.

Unfortunately yeah. Even direct photos of the stuff on the moon would be declared fake. It's now impossible (it always has been) to change this lots mind. People in general too rarely change when in a cult.

It is amazing though. When you think of computers and the like. It's unbelievable. The equipment looks like a joke. Can't imagine being there when it happened. Would have been amazing to go through.

It seems once someone's sucked into one conspiracy, they get into these discord and telegram groups where they go further and further down the rabbit hole with illuminati, faked moon landings, chemtrails and all that stuff.
This is true.
They all start with one and then seem to think everything else is the same as the other, everything is a lie.
The friend I was speaking about in my earlier reply, he started with watching "ancient aliens" or whatever its called and now hes so deep in the hole I dont really talk to him anymore, as I am only going to get nonsense thrown my way or insults that I think I am more intelligent than others and as a result wont believe these theories.
Quite pathetic.

Edit - He also said I put myself above him and others in forms of intelligence as I have a degree and that I questioned his ability to read and comprehend a 12000 word document in under ten minutes.... Yes the document was a counter piece to a conspiracy theory documentary.

There's a conspiracy for just about everything. Life's too short to get caught up in worrying yourself about what's the truth or not. I think people who truly believe in flat earth, faked moon landings, twin tower controlled explosions and the like, need to get a grip, go outside and enjoy life.

I expect a big chunk don't have much in their lives. And it's a community of these people.

If you ever look on the commentors profiles on nasa posts it usually follows a theme.

I think deep-down, people sucked into these things just want to feel like they are a part of something. There's also an element of satisfaction/smugness in "knowing" something that the "sheeple" don't.

The problem is it gets dangerous when people stop trusting doctors and those in the medical profession (EDIT: I'm talking about in general, not COVID). I've already heard stuff like "I'll use CBD and not big pharma poison". *Sigh*.

Yeah I agree, my friend is quick to point to me being smug for having a degree, when its not about having a degree, its about the ability to do your own research and to identify what is nonsense and what is not.
I remember him sharing this pdf months ago about "here is how you remove the covid vaccine from your body", complete load of nonsense, then on the final page it said something along the lines of "this information has not been verified by medical professionals and as a result, we cannot recommend anyone actually following the guidance in the above document", he had completely failed to notice that part and I know for a fact he has gone out and bought loads of old nonsense like arrowroot flour and **** to be making some form of drink that will remove the covid vaccine from his body.

personally if people are willing to do this type of **** to their body and refuse to believe or follow doctors orders, why on earth should we save them when their body fails due to illness or impacts caused by nonsense.

I suspect it is a mixture of not wanting to be told what to do, being wary, and the government manipulating a true situation for their own gain, which ends up making them look suspicious.

I've noticed that people think other people are perfect, so any mistakes that person makes must mean there is something suspicious going on.

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by neglect, ignorance or incompetence eh?
