'Contact lost' with Malaysia Airlines plane

How come if the transponder needs to be able to be turned off, that the device in the engine sending data to the satellite doesn't need to be? Seems to be a bit of a contradiction there.

Imagine if that's plane debris, with scores of dead bodies. Awful for any recovery team, and awful for the families if those people were alive in the water at any point (so, if they're wearing life jackets, basically).

There are unlikely to be many bodies left...

As someone mentioned earlier as a joke sharks and other fish would have finished them off by now, if they are on the seabed then there are several scavenger fish species that would have had everything, including bones by now...

It probably can be turned off.
Whoever turned off the comms systems has turned off the diagnostics service (it wasnt sending any real data) but has overlooked the fact that it still pings the satellites.

pilot suicide, killed co-pilot hence the struggle, flew out over the ocean with no way of getting back on the fuel.

if true what an absolute **** he is.

This still makes no sense

Same here.

We don't know what happened yet. I wonder why the stewards never used the phones on board when they knew something was wrong?

I know they have them on Virgin planes as I've used them. I think it was hijacked.

What a great way to hide the fact those 20 people who worked at the same place and the "lithium ion" batteries that were on board were actually taken and the plane dumped :p

Could be similar to Flight 93. I don't think we will ever know.

Well Flight 93 was heading for the Whitehouse. Terrorists on planes always have a final destination. The fact that this plane travelled to a remote part of the Indian Ocean and ditched seems to me to negate terrorism. Terrorists what maximum bang for buck, so it would make sense that if this was terrorism then the plane would have ditched in a densely populated area. That is not what happened. I've got a Big Mac and 20p to wager a pilot suicide. ;)

possibly requires the engine to be shut down or the pilot simply didnt know about it or think about it.

No one turned it off, the airline just don't use it and don't pay for the service,

[CT mode]

Isn't it obvious that they were trying to land the plane in Antarctica to store it in the secret base made by the Nazi's during WWII so that it could be refuelled and used in a later terrorist attack

We shall see, might be he wanted to make the Malaysian govt look complete retarded idiots on the world stage after what happened the opposition leader.
And if it was, it looks like he suceeded if that was the goal.
