'Contact lost' with Malaysia Airlines plane

Do we know why it was missing for 5 hours before MAS actually confirmed it missing and the search started? A 777 a full tilt could be far far away in a 5 hour window

Unless something more interesting happened to the plane and they just cooked this up to keep people quiet.

With all due respect to those people saying "Something not quite right here" or variations of the same...

Well, yes the thing that is not quite right is that this aircraft did not turn up where it was meant to, when it was meant to. All other aspects such as the search for wreckage people seem to think follows a tight timescale, never mind we are searching for something in an area the size of France.....

It is odd that the phones are ringing.. however, I suppose there is chance that they are in a suitcase thats survived on land somewhere. I say land as I doubt in the ocean there would be signal around there.

Alternatively, its been hijacked and lant somewhere or shot down.

Perhaps some of the phones are setup to forward to another phone if they're off?

There is probably a perfectly simple explanation that doesnt involve aliens or wormholes

Or you know the more sensible, they aren't actually ringing and its just the network getting confused. if you search fake phone rung then you'll find loads if posts discussing it, some with some details about how phone networks ring.

Its just most people don't think about such things as usually if it rings. then you just think they haven't picked up.

I would much rather it had been landed somewhere, at least then there would be a chance of survival for the passengers.

maybe people turned their phones on as the **** hit the fan? and some of them, somehow survived the impact to still be able to receive calls?
