No really, I think this qualifies as a cool story so hold your bros and your jesus.jpg

My hairdresser was telling me a story whilst cutting my hair about one of his good friends. Said friend was engaged and the happy couple had their wedding date and venue set.... for Alton Towers!

They receive a phone call from Alton Towers asking them if they would kindly consider changing the date. With arrangements already in place and invites etc sent, this obviously seemed a bad idea so they declined. The next day they receive another phone call, this time being informed that a 'private client' wished to book the venue and was willing to pay for the wedding reception if they changed the date. After some consideration, the couple declined... it wasn't worth the hassle.

Another call! This time Alton Towers informs them that the client will, if they agree to change the wedding date, pay for the reception, all accommodation for the guests and pay for their honeymoon! After an agonising deliberation, they finally decide on no. They sent their thanks to the client for such a generous offer but insisted they would not change the date.

The phone goes off again. They can't believe their ears, but they are being offered:

- the wedding reception
- all accomodation and transport
- the honeymoon
- payment for the entire cost for their future first home, upfront

This of course was an offer too good to refuse and they willingly changed the date. You may be wondering who the mysterious private client was. It turns out it was... the Beckhams! Yep, it turns out that David and Victoria wanted the entire theme park to themselves for Romeos birthday... oh how the other half live :D

That's your lot, bros.

As much as I hate queuing for rides and busy places, I can't imagine how crap Alton Towers would be with no people at all. I call bs.

Haha, nobody is going to believe it after you posted that

I don't think anyone was seriously going to believe it before I posted that.

Anyhow, if you Google search for this story the couple this allegedly happened to seem to have a lot of friends and friends of friends who told the world about it.

OP that is such a good story. I really can't pick "one part" that I liked the best. But if you were to hold a gun to my head, I would go with the part with the pictures. I just got off the phone with an armored truck company. They will be arriving in the morning to pick up my back up disk, which I just saved your story on to. There probably won't be much traffic, because I forwarded the police your story, and they agreed to escort the armored truck to its destination. At first the police chief didn't want to help, but then I guided his attention to the incredible pictures that you embedded along with your story. I mean, the story was good enough. But as soon as I saw the pictures that went along with it, I called my grandmother, who is blind and has Alzheimer’s disease to tell her. As far as her doctors in the nursing home are concerned, she is cured of all her ailments now that she heard your cool story. She is actually preparing to run the Boston marathon this year now. Thank you OP.

I probably wouldn't have believed it either without the relationship link to somebody I know, I probably was duped somehow as it's such an unbelievable story, but it's nice to dream :D

You're welcome Skillmister

Sounds like something they would do tbf but on the other hand hairdressers/barbers talk a load of tosh 99% of the time.

The fact it is even possible for this story to be mistaken for truth means two things.

1) Some people are a little silly.

2) Some people have way to much money.

Even if it was true - which it isn't (and there are multiple variations on it - the more you will here from silly people as you get older).......

1.) Alton Towers has an average daily attendance of 12,000...on 1st of Sept - (his birthday) attendance would be quite a bit more - and takings for the day (including food/drink) would be well into the millions.
2.) He has epilepsy - so theme parks are generally out the window.
3.) An almost Identical story did the rounds 3 years ago when one of the Disney parks was closed supposidly for them - it wasn't - as proved by pix of them being somewhere else.
4.) You can check the pap photos next week to see they weren't anywhere near there.

So if your hairdresser is going to tell a little tale - a least quietly tell him to get some decent facts to back to wee story up ;)
