Cops shooting unarmed man

You need to get with it, the American cops shoot dead hundreds a year over there, a homeless guy was shot dead, shot many times even on the ground after about 6 bullets already to the chest they kept on shooting.

And I was reading an article today that the police in Scotland are trialling out officers with guns on the streets so good chance the cops will be generally walking around fully armed Britain-wide some time in the future.

He's pretty lucky that no bystanders were hit by his wayward shooting tbh, never mind how fortunate the guy he was aiming at is for 'only' being hit once.

Shocking video. Officer apparently "feared for his life". If that's the case he clearly shouldn't be a police officer. Lacks any basic firearms training. Good job seeing as he only hit him once from that close range. Firing in to a petrol station as well?! I'm not sure how dangerous that actually is, but going by the action films I've seen the whole place could have gone up.

Assuming a murderous trigger-happy cop had racist motives is as bad as actually being a murderous trigger-happy cop who may have had racist motives?

Assuming the cop had bad intentions is as bad as the cop assuming the black lad had bad intentions.

Massive panic

Just do it nice and slow and think then you would be able to...1) Shoot and kill people way faster than if you panic and 2 ) Realize there is no need to actually shoot the person.

Yeah. Except my assumption won't result in me shooting some poor fella in the arse.

And it is, somewhat, based on likely outcomes (given the video evidence, the sacking of the officer, and the comments of the police chief)

lolengland....Mark Duggan being shot for just doing as he was asked. ;)

Odd, I can't see any mention of this bloke been a known gangster suspected of murder and having recently purchased an illegal hand gun. Link please.

The American policeman pulls the bloke over for not wearing a seat belt, asks him to get his license, then shoots him while complying. Unbelievable actions by someone who clearly should never have been a police officer.

I think both cases hold similar nature. In that you have ONE COP with an itchy trigger finger.

Neither case did the victim have an 'actual' firearm, therefore it is safe to assume that in both cases the itchy finger cop fired 'assuming' that the person they were apprehending had a firearm, giving justifiable cause to shoot before being shot at.

You can't deny that. Its just the the UK Policeman has all his buddies to cover for him, whereas the US cop has a camera to incriminate him.

That's not entirely accurate.

The police here had a reason, due to knowing his background, to suspect he had a weapon.

This guy was just a random guy that got checked by the officer. No background, no clue as to who is he etc.

TBH just about EVERYONE here in America has at least the right to carry a weapon.. So the cop was right to suspect he also had a weapon.

I think you've missed the point there.

Following a known criminal who intelligence suggests may be carrying a gun is hardly the same as following a random individual who may or may not be armed.

Like OP, the first time I watched it, it looked like he darted in for something without saying a word, I would have been extremely twitchy then too, but after I watched it back again, it looks normal.

The cops a douche. He got caught on Camera, is facing A long Jail term. Surely justice has been done. At the very least he will probably be dismissed and that's 1 more idiot off the force??

The poor guys gonna be paid heavy compo. Race accusations will fly.

All i learned was America is scary and full of nutters

Holy cr.. rubbish

We are all doomed if we get asked for anything.

Just opens fire with nothing, NOTHING to use as evidence only that the suspect? if you call him that went into his car for his licence as asked?

Lucky he did not die?

The cop was definitely in the wrong, but I think cases like this just highlight the problems with having an armed populous. Happens all the time. There was another case not long ago where an old guy got shot after reaching into his car for a walking stick.
