So considering the E8400 can be had for £129, E8500 for £180 and the Q9450 for £218 + new motherboard(for me) what would you go for?

I went for the E8500 at that price. I reckon it's worth the extra £50, will take the load off my mobo and ram

Too early to say, best waiting for plenty of overclocking results I think now.

I still thinks £180 is abit too steep for a dual core CPU at this time but we do know with an E8500 its pretty much an easy ride to 4Ghz+

Guys this ain't Mountain Biking UK.

E8500 is worth it's price. It's the best bet if you want serious speed (they are the higher binned chips AFAIK).

I sold my E6600 for £70 so decided to go the whole hog and plump for the top dog. Hope it's worth it.

The very fact that the CPU isn't 100% loaded should tell you that the CPU isn't working all the time. This is because the GPU is holding the whole show up.

Crysis is GPU limited, its all over the net.
