*** Core 2 Duo Overclocking Database ***

Will tightening the timmings on my XMS2 C5 RAM help me with overclocking? I had them at 5-8-8-24 and from 800MHz to 1100MHz. I only managed 2.7GHz (340x8) on my E6400. I tried upping the voltage on the RAM by 0.1V but it killed my DS3. Should I have got better RAM?

1. E6300
2. 1.36V
3. Step 6 B2
4. Multiplier 7 FSB 470
5. 3290MHz
6. Gigabyte DS4
7. F3
8. Geil Ultra PC6400
9. 5-5-5-15
10. 2.24V
11. Gigabyte G-Power Pro (air)

Ram is set now set at ddr2800 cpuz reads it as 400mhz 4 4 4 12 1:1 ratio cycle time 16 clocks?
Is this the right setting? I needed to adjust the cpuv core up 1.525 my cpu load temps now 48 deg c

Good stuff. That's fine, vcores the same as mine. Should fly now the memory is set right. Run the dual prime (orthos) on blends priority 8/9 for 12hrs make sure it fully stable. Assuming the temps are ok and it passes dual prime, your good to go, congrats :D

For 24/7, you don't have to wind it back if you don't want to, as long as you can get a long dual prime, then your good. If you lower it a bit, 3.2 say, you won't feel it much, but you may be able to get the speedstep to work. Saves on the bills.

Thanks for the advice whats the max cpu vc to use within limits with this cpu?
Your about there for air, no more than 1.55v. I prefer 1.5v. It's the high volts and high temps thats the killer. High volts will shorten the life of the chip, but it'll more than likely be worth less than a cheap haircut before it dies.

trouble with stress test recieved error message as follows do I go for more vaults or am i pushing my luck
Test 2, 4000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M19922943 using 1024K FFT length.
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.498046875, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
Torture Test ran 2 minutes 34 seconds - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
Execution halted.

Put it to vcore 1.55v, vmch 1.65v and see what happens, I wouldn't recommend going higher. How are the temps at load? getting them down will help.

before I max out the v on air what cpu temps should I avoid last orthus run temps 48-53 deg C also my vmach is only set at 15.5v ? would this be my main problem for instablility? ps idel my temps cpu are 33 deg c

Check the Vmch again, I don't think its 15.5v. Download a program called coretemp or everest. I would say don't let the cores go over 60C, that's not the same as the motherboard cpu sensor, which will 15C lower. Mine idles at 30C so your not far off.

2 hour 30 min into othus same error as above. downloaded everest 2.2 does not give right reading for cpu still not sure which v mach is set using xp utility.

In bios i have set it at 1.65? I will do a photo of bios and post it up to see if you can see the problem?

Vmch is as you say in the bios. Photo's would be good, maybe not here though, post it back in your original thread I'll find it. Post the everest screen as well, I may be able to explain it.
