Core 9000 series

As a "gift" it's only liable for NOT paying import taxes on it if it's under 36 dollars.

stick it in an older intel box wrapped up in birthday wrap :D

Hmmmm delidded binned 8700k @ 5.1g for a 9900k? Shall I....

if needs must . either way, both cores should last as long as first gen i7s which seems now have bitten the bullet with AC:O not supporting the oldest cores

just have to be smart with shopping around for parts - antecs new B-Die for £140 is damn good, should easily hit 3200hz but will take some user brains and time , might get lucky and push higher .
some basic z390 boards smash middle end + z370 boards as well . Hopefully soldering means you dont have to drop a lot of cash on cooling

That same fustration is felt our side, what do you think this does to our business?

Right now the market is in the worse situation I have ever seen it in 15 years, lack of CPU, lack of GPU and all of it to put it bluntly is over priced, its a joke, I feel your pain, for us we can't get the supply and as a result we sell less of everything.

Its a bad situation right now caused by Intel and NVIDIA with general lack of supply and high prices.

remember you stating long ago how nvidia pulling titans from resellers heard sales ... creeping price of cards, wonder when they'll lock down the Ti's .

already seen AIB forced with reference cards and delayed engineering samples

The 9600k needed 1.5v+ to hit 5.2ghz. Something the 8600k does at 1.38..... I wouldnt be surprised if the 9900k needs 1.45-1.5v for all core 5ghz. Possibly explains Intel own words that z390 is needed to properly overclock the 9900k.

aye, just looked at other results, 1.392v under load for 5.3ghz - cinebench

few vendors needing to get their slides and facts a bit clearer haha - if not thats one cherry picked chip

had to run my 8700k at 1.42 to hit 5.1ghz

Can we all take a moment to appreciate AMD's engineering here? i mean really... they produced an 8c 16t soldered chip without these ridiculous thermal issues that the 9 series has, also at half the price?? how is that not a masterpiece compared to this tripe Intel are shovelling out?

Yes AMD might not clock as high and yes they are behind a little in IPC, but this latest 9 series just seems a desperate attempt to try and be a "Me Too".

looked at 4k and hardly any difference - though i expect e-sports to be set up with 240hz 1080p and 9700ks running 5.2ghz as intel dominate the e-sport scene

Can't help but feel how this would have been on 10nm node .
2nd gen... 1st would have been 8th gen ...

Intel reminding me of Kodak .. how the once mighty can fall and fall hard .. apple would have been the same had they not pushed through with iPod and then Samsung heads doing a good job to shoot themselves in the foot . Thinks it's Intel's turn to do some soul searching ...

Have no doubt this will sell well... It will, I have no doubt this will make Ryzen sell well... More win for AMD the Intel would like as they are half the price but hopefully more cash into R&D... Specially AMD.. their PR budget is just useless haha

Still no VRM reviews and heat guns.. will see why z390 is beefed up... Needs it !

Dg.

Maybe if you are a kid playing Fortnite or PUBG at 1080p then you will see a difference. But most people on this forum are not.

or esports- intel has that firmly locked down with 1080p 240hz monitors being most event choice

but yeah, every ones pretty much nailed it on the head 4k is all about the GPU and the most you can chuck at it, ryzen 2700 and not the X and overclock it :D

still the only 2 games that have perfect thread scaling/performance is Lost Planet 2/3 - surprised no reviewers used the game with ryzen/coffeelake head to head same clock speed....

In my experience touted future CPU compatibility with motherboards/CPUs has been a very mixed story and more often less useful even when there is some future "compatibility" while the chance of it is better than nothing I'd certainly not count on it until it actually happens. Board power handling capabilities are just one of the reasons it hasn't been great in the past. In other instances motherboard manufacturers have been lazy with firmware updates needed (probably due to wanting to sell new boards) and so on.

that and DDR5 is meant to be released in 2020 - right when Ryzen 2+ would launch ...

This thread has lost it's way somewhat...

One of the switch points was altered by some vandals, so the tracks were pointing the wrong way. Once we get to the next station we'll be fine. :)

its okay , I can always change the title - or lock people up that don't confirm to pure 9000 series talk in Xinjiang .... *tumble weed*

my advice is, if your going to buy the 9000 series, buy before brexit at least , not sure if @Gibbo secures distribution form UK or EU, guessing EU but should prove a little interesting in hardware for a little bit :)
