Core Temps quite different!

i get this with my E8400 and have reseated it loads of times but still the same results.

cpu-2.jpg

Those temps are about right you only have 5% usage on core No1 while the other is is at 0% test it with prime 95 it will test both 100%

i get a hugh range on mine particauly under load core 0 and 1 are runing in 60s while the rest are in 50s or even 40s o.O... that high temps is going to change I got a q9550 btw
as for lapping the heatsink I that type ware the heatsinks touch the cpu can it still be laped?

Idle - 37 32 24 25
Load (all 100% using Prime95) - 81 78 62 59

My cooler is a Freezer 7 pro.
Is that fully and evenly loaded?

i.e are you running software that is loading all the cores 100%?

If you are then I reckon you have failed the Intel Push-Pin test and haven't got the heatsink attached properly! :D

He says that he's using all the cores via prime95 :)

I've over clocked my Q6600 to 3ghz and I'm using the same cooler as you, my temps vary they don't get nowhere near yours. I think 80degrees is a bit excessive.

Another thing to check, is the CPU fan even spinning? (Sounds stupid but hey, you might not of checked / noticed)

I'll post mine up

My temps are all over the shop as well. Core 3 stis about 8 degrees lower than the rest. :(

Intel recommend a max of 71 degrees on the Q6600. Their values might be conservative, it all depends how comfortable you are.

Hell, when you think about it, you might as well run it at 70 degrees with 1.55 volts or more, and if it lasts a year, you can buy a new one then. My chip has been tortured with temps of 86, and even shut down twice. But is still going storng, but I've sorted out my cooling now.

That idle is incredibly low for a 3.8 overclock! What cooler are you using? I really need to get round to lapping mine :)
Im using a TRUE black with 2 sharkoon silent eagle 2000 rpm fans in push/pull configuraion, though i suspect my core 3 sensor is stuck at idle and that screen was taken just after switching the sysem on in a pretty cool room.

Even if you running your cpu at 90C there is no danger to damage the cpu for at list 2 years. After 2-3 years maybe starts to fail but nobody cares because everyone change the cpu every 2 years;)

Hehe ok. Try getting a Q9*** cpu, overclock it so it will reaches 90*c on load and run seti@home on it 24/7. I would give the cpu 7 months tops before it started to fail. And fyi, not everyone changes their cpu every 2 years ;)

Trust me I have my own personal experiences and I know that if a cpu run 90C is going to survive for 2-3 years (not 27/4 but 8 hours a day). Everyone changes their cpu every 2 years and this is a fact;) Only the people that use the pc for officeuse don’t changes their cpu every 2 years.
