Correct amount of sleep...

Are those Nytol herbal tablets any good because as time goes on, I seem to be sleeping lighter and lighter. A fly farting can wake me up. :(

I haven't felt well rested in absolutely ages tbh.

I tried them, they do work as in they helped me get back to sleep easier. I do a lot of tossing and turning so this helped for the short term.

Cheers - I'll go get some. As for doing a lot of tossing - I thought that was supposed to make you feel sleepy! :D

I hate what snooze does to my sleep. But still continue to use it. Often I wake up feeling mediocre, snooze for a bit then feel awful because I snoozed... Really need to get out of the habit...

When I was a boy I used to get up at 6:00am +- 10 seconds each day for years. Funny thing was I woke up and was wide awake instantaneously. I believe this to be down to having a well trained body clock.

It is my mission to train my body clock again. being self employed, I've been lucky enough to be able to rise when ever I like for the past few years. Now I have a job so I need to change my ways.

Anyone else wake without an alarm the same time everyday? Within a few seconds and feel wide awake? I want to know if this is possible for an adult.

I used to suffer from extreme tiredness and I worked as an admin person. The problem is I wake up numerous times during the night to turn over or maybe a pain in my arms or legs (I have arthritis) PLUS I take painkillers morning, noon and night so all of that really hit me hard. I could get 8-10 hours but still feel tired. As many have said its about the quality of sleep, I too go straight from computer to bed and that isn't a good thing as your brain is still active.

The only thing that helped was listening to music on my phone. Finding that happy-medium is hard but making small changes will help and being a little more relaxed before bed will help.

Listen to whispering / soft speaking videos on YouTube. Sounds a bit fetishy but it knocks me the **** out.

PS - you do not walk 2 miles in 20-25 mins :p.

I probably ideally need 7-8hrs now, but will cope with 6. The amount of sleep you need apparently decreases as you get older.

Unusually I had problems sleeping last night - only managed about 1.5hrs. Knowing I had to be up at 5 probably played a part. Needless to say I feel awful.

Phones are the enemies of sleep. I always have a browse or look at some forums when I get into bed, and should just be going to sleep. Terrible habit!

I found that not eating anything for a couple of hours before bedtime helped me.

And does everyone on this forum walk slow? 2 miles in 25 mins is average surely.

Most people get the distance terribly wrong. Google says the walk to town is 1.4m and it should take 31 mins. I don't know about the distance but the timing is about right.

I dreamt I had this once!

Trust me when you have it, you hate it. I love having a couple of extra hours on weekends. But when your trying to sleep at 10PM because you need to get up early what you haven't done for a period of time, its a real sod. Ahhh well sleeping tablets :D

Anyway lets not break the rules :p

I thought so to. My mum walks to work and she works 4 miles away, it takes her 40-45 mins.

I usually go to bed at 00:00 and am up for 07:45, so nigh on 8 hours for me, but that can vary, Luke others have mentioned I think its up to the individual, there is no specific right amount.

If you are sleeping in or not wanting to get up, it might not be because of the time slept but waking up traumatically to an awful alarm, having nothing to look forward to or resenting work.

Try getting a hobby so you feel you've made good use of your evening time so don't resent going to bed after doing it.

And have something to look forward to when you wake up and wake up gently, so maybe a light that gets gradually brighter, a radio alarm that gets gradually louder and a coffee-maker on timer so there is a nice aroma and coffee ready for you.
