Corsair Carbide Air 540 Builds

has any one had any vibration noise issues ?

ive got a h100i at the top, and i have a very annoying noise which stops if i push on the rad a little, have made sure it was screwed in fully.

open to ideas on fixes, maybe some anti vibration washers :S

My H100i is super quiet. I would unscrew the rad and re-install it. Maybe try different screws.

I'll be building this tomorrow now.

A question for the bods with the H100i, did you leave the thermal paste on that it came with or replace it?

Don't have an 'i', but I imagine it's the same paste as the H100. Leave on, it's very good stuff and well applied.

corsair should add hard drive covers for mechanical drives would look a lot cleaner as the lables stand out and with the window being so large its even more noticeable.

will be interesting to see what they change in the mk2.

I never use the paste. I always replace it with MX-4. My temps are amazing.

But if you didn't use the stock stuff then you wont know if the MX-4 is better or worse (you hope it'd be better).
I used the stock paste with my H60, then when I swapped my i5 for my i7 I used ICDiamond 24 and can't say it's made much difference. Of course since the chips are different it's hard to compare.

Surely the trouble then is that they wouldn't get any airflow from the fans? Which I though was the point of putting them in the section that has airflow (unlike the SSDs that don't and are in the back section).
I do think there are a fair few improvements they could make to the case if they did a mk2 though.

Could anyone do me a favour and give me the dimension for the space between the mobo tray and the side panel?
Im hoping ill be able to find a HDD cage thatll fit in place with the SSD cage, on top of the PSU.

I'm using a fan controller too and on low the fans were pretty quiet, but could still hear them. The AF140's were so quiet I couldn't even hear them at all. their so quiet at first I thought they weren't on. lol That's how much better the af140's are. Worth every penny I spent on them.

Totally agree with Retro. I have them on low and can still hear an annoying noise.

Have ordered 3xAF140s on the way.

I've used the stock paste many times and my MX-4 paste is much better imo. I get a 4c temp drop. I've done many tests through out the past year and MX-4 is been amazing paste and well worth it. I never use stock paste ever.

The pre-applied paste is decent so there's no real need to replace it.

If you don't have any paste the stock paste will do, but I would recommend replacing it if you can.

Sorry guys/gals but another H100i question! Is it worth replacing the fans it comes with and if so what sizes can it take 120 or 140?

Cheers

120mm 140 wont fit. The stock fans are good, but they're a bit noisy.

These are better

Or even these

In tests I've seen the Low Noise High Pressure fans are slightly better then the regular fans high pressure fans. Either will be fine. Just make sure there the PWM and not 3 pin. You can't control the speed on 3 pin unless you connect the resistors adapter that comes with it and even then you wont have full control.

Hi all,
There's some really nice build's in this thread. Good job folks!
I just wondered if any of you had any trouble fitting your fan controllers in the front bay's as my Lamptron Fc2 will just not go in.
On both sides going front to back the controller has about an inch and half that sticks out about 2mm more than the rest. So there is an inch and half sticking out of the front. i could try sanding it down on the sides but would rather just get a different fan controller.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
It was a really nice case to work with apart from the fan controller issue.

@zom247, Yeah it's deffinately worth replacing the h100's stock fans as they can get pretty loud, I've never used them myself though.

How many Corsair Hydro coolers have you had!?
Guess it's a good indication of how good they are if you keep buying them.

I've only used the H60, but it was better than I expected. Trying to summon up the enthusiasm to replace my H60 with a custom loop but not sure I have the patience for it, or the leak testing. Also a bit worried as I was going to copy SimonMatlby's idea of mounting the pump and res over the PSU, which just seems like a bad idea on the off chance it does leak...

I've been through 6 "I" series coolers. The cooler works amazing, but the LED's on the "I" series fail all the time. I wonder why corsair hasn't fixed the problem yet? Otherwise it's a great all in one. Best out there imho

I'm tempted to get a H100i but it seems like lucky dip from the start whether u get one with a dodgy pump. Also i'm worried about how noisy the pump is at idle with fans turned down.

Here's a few pics of my build I did today:

I was going to put a H100i in there when I remembered I had a Noctua DH14 in the loft so I've stuck that in for now.

It's very quiet and it looks nice on my desk. Might have to get some sort of lighting for it now I've got a big window!

The cables need a bit of tidying but I'll do that later when I have more time.

Gunna get my order in on Monday or Tuesday along with more AP-15s and maybe an NZXT Hue. Will post pics!
Will replacing all the fans with AP-15s and undervolting them make my build very quiet?

The more I see this case, the more I wish it had been out last December when I bought my Phantom 410.

Don't get me wrong, the 410 is a fantastic case but I just want one of these. I just can't justify it at the moment.

It is the best case I've ever worked on and the best case I've owned ever! The cooling is extremely amazing! I change cases twice a year, but not this time. I can see myself owning this for a long time to come.
