Corsair Carbide Air 540 Builds

The stock corsair ones in the 540 are quite noisey though the airflow is fairly good.

ill def replace the default, as anyone used corsairs 1500RPM Quiet Edition ? i dont want noisy fans and leaning towards getting led ones as that HUE led thing at £40 seems a bit too much

Your build looks really good.
Thanks, core components are great but in getting a bit fed up with the bitfenix shinobi xl. Its a nice understated design and very well laid out internally. But its lack of front airflow is a major let down. I noticed a rise of 5c on my cpu and gpu's i had when moving from a Lian Li A70F full tower.

Interesting, because im still deciding on air 540 or BitFenix Ronin which would save me £50 and i only plan to have one gpu and cpu will be cooled with h100, what you think of BitFenix cases so far? not good airflorw?

ps that remark was towards Andy :P that his built looks good, made a mistake and quoted wrong post lol

Ah, np. Bitfenix cases are nicely made but the entire range feature very closed front panels therefore air intake is very poor. In the xl you then have a very restrictive hdd cage blocking what little air does come in. One advantage though is dust isn't a problem. I removed x2 gtx 670's last week that had never been cleaned in over a year and they were spotless.

What you make of the Ronin? doesnt seem to differ too much from urs only that its a mid tower, the price is really tempting me to go it instead of the air 540 and i could spend the difference on a better GPU

This is how far I have progressed atm Im leak testing but not in this picture.
Check my log guys.

Just got the case today love it.

it seems i cant get my other hot swap bay to recognize a hard drive, anyone else had this problem?

First one works fine

It's just 2 cables essentially. Test with direct sata power and a Sata data cable into same sata port in Mobo. If it works, it must be the dual cable at fault.

Sorry if this has been covered - how much modding is required to fit in 120.3 or equivalent rad?

in the front??? if so, none, your fans may have to go in the front though depending on rad thickness, which means you will lose the filter. unless of course you stretch a pair of tights over them. ;)

Are you able to change the sata cable from the hot swap bay? want to replace them both with right angle bitfenix alchemy ones

depending on gpu, i could fit a 45mm with my 780 lightning

Cheers. I am seriously considering this case for the base of a watercooling build. A decent 120.3 rad in the front should cool a GPU and CPU and I can always put in a double in the roof at a later date. Other alternates are the TJ07 (not keen due to the interior being silver) or a Corsair 750D/900D.

Sorry to be a pain, which is the largest EK rad I could fit into the front of this keeping the standard dust filters? EK is my preference, but if not then which other brand? I'm looking to cool a CPU and GPU at first, perhaps a second GPU later so would like expansion possibilities.
